These general sports columnists -- Lupica, Ian O'Connor, etc -- really have to stop attacking Rex. Just because the guy pumps up HIS guys, he isn't bashing the other team. He's never dissed an opponent or player, he just talks up his guys. Ask every other coach in the playoffs....off the record....for attribution only AFTER their season is over or even after their NFL coaching career is over: "Hey, Coach ____, you really know you have no chance of winning 3/4 games in a row and winning the Super Bowl, right ? You know you're not winning the whole thing, and all this talk about having a shot because you're in the playoffs is just coach-speak, right?" I bet you won't find a SINGLE coach -- not even Pete Carroll -- who honestly thinks they CAN'T win the Super Bowl. So stop bashing Rex for saying what nobody else has the f****** guts to acknowledge. And don't bash a positive about Manning into a negative about Brady. 1 more thing....being honest about POSITIVE things on your team is not the same thing as being diplomatic about NEGATIVE things on another, like when you're asked about another team's weak spot and you actually do diss them inside your head but would NEVER say out loud "Yeah, their secondary has been shredded the last few weeks, that's their weak spot and we hope we can take advantage of that. Those guys are really horrible back there, they've been giving up big plays all year, let's hope it continues 1 more week." Lots of coaches may believe that but they know you can't say that -- even if you're a defending SB champ at 13-2 playing a 2-13 team playing out the string. Just ranting at 1:30 AM......

No, I stand by that also. They're totally separate. That problem keeps popping up, it's a separate issue. I am talking about the continued attacks on Rex for being honest, talking up his team, believing he can win the Super Bowl, and believing he has the best team. Sure, sometimes you roll your eyes -- like when he says his pass D/rush is better this year than last year -- but he's not gonna attack his guys except marginally.
See much pass rush today ? They played well, I grant you....a few problems on gap runs....if you think they are all Pro Bowlers, god bless.
