My god, some people talk on here like they are 10.. The only problem I have is with the media blowing things up. Rex hasn't done anything except put us in the playoffs. There is too many, MAMBY PANZIES on this forum...I would take the confident coach over the one standing on the side lines pulling his thong out anyday.
Every time I visit my nephew in Tampa, Steak n Shake is a must stop! Don't have any up here. We're very backwards up in Maine!
For a world class metropolis we lack in good fast food. I watch the Dodger games on the dish late at night and see commercials for Carls, Jr, In & Out, Jack In The Box, all stuff the have out in California and we don't have any of it. People have tried to tell me Hardee's is the same as Carls, but it isn't and I don't even think we have Hardees here. Good thing we have a local pizza joint every 500 feet.
I live in a town of 30,000. McD, BK, Wendy's, Applebee 7 pizza parlors 5 Chinese rest. 1 Thai Real diversity there, eh!
Every time I go to Vegas I see their giant sign but I never have a car and it's about a three hour walk from where I am.
a little over an hour and i'm scarfing 4 or 5 of them down for lunch. they really are the best burgers on the planet.
Word. The only place where pizza is done right in this country is NY. (sorry Chicago) I spent some time in Nocal, the only thing I really miss is the Mexican food. In and out was good, but it's still just a burger, millions of places make burgers quickly.
chicago pizza is like a giant stuffed mess, i'll pass. give me a nice thin crispy slice of NY pizza, there is no substitute.
I've heard that, about In&Out but haven't had the opportunity to try them yet. Red Robin are pretty damn good as well as is Steak & Shake. Get the triple with cheese. The drive thru is a pain in the ass, but it's because every steakburger is cooked when you order it.
I didn't put NYC down just the poster, but forget about it. I like NYC, it's a great city and I've been a Yankees fan longer than most of the posters on this board have been alive. I remember watching Dizzy Dean and PeeWee Reese broadcast the games with Falstaff Beer as the primary sponsor. The dome didn't have a personality except that it was the loudest venue in the league. It was just a concrete building with a bubble on top. The Oil Can is very nice and stacks up against any other stadium, but because it's so much bigger the noise level isn't as loud as the dome was.
I know it's not fast food and so by that definition they are disqualified, but what we do have around here that imo covers the gap is diners. I have been really into them since my kids got just old enough that they didn't insist any longer on McDonalds or BK. Now they like diners, too. Everybody can get what they want. Diners are not a chain, of course, either. But they are similar enough and plentiful enough. Most routes I take I know about diners on the way in case we are eating. Or around where I live. Diners, baby. And yeah, pizza around here is great. People come from other parts of the country, and they love it. I also think Chinese food around here is better than in some other parts of the country. Even Rhode Island, the Chinese food is pretty lame. So we have diners, pizza and Chinese. I dunno, that's pretty good I think.
