This does get overlooked....... Even the year they won the SB, he played pretty shitty the 1st 2 playoff games. :shit:

That was an interesting article / perspective though. Only if the Tuna woulda...coulda...shoulda.....but........

He really only had the one great half against NE,m other than that he didn't play well all posteason. He only won the SB MVP award b/c his name is Peyton manning but he clearly did not deserve it.

Manning did not look invincible vs. the Titans last week. The Tennessee Titans.

He'll make his reads, fine. If our D covers well, makes tackles, and beats some blockers, we'll do good.

If the O can keep him on the bench withe long TD drives for a majority of the game, even better.

    You sound like Francessa now.

Tom Brady was NOT "Tom Brady" during their first championship, so stop acting like Belichick needs a MVP performance from a QB to win. Where was the golden boy Brady when they lost to the Giants in the SuperBowl? On his ass, while Belichick's defense kept them in the game.

Parcells got multiple pro-bowl years from Bledsoe & Testaverde and had a rising superstar in Tony Romo and didn't win a championship with any of them, so stop acting like he was stuck with the Ryan Leafs of the world his whole career.

Nobody is saying Parcells is not a good coach, but I'm sorry, Belichick has surpassed him - and what BB has been able to do in 2010 with a Patriots team everyone had already written off to start the season cements that.

That about covers it. I respect Manning, but this Manning is God crap is overdone, to say the least.

Obviously Brady wasn't as great as he is now in 2001 BUT w/o him they don't even make the playoffs in 2001. That team was 5-11 in 2000 and began 0-2 in 2001 before Brady stepped in. Then BB's "great" defense blew a 14 point 4th qtr lead before Brayd led one of the greatest drives in SB history to win that game.

W/o Brady BB is a DC somewhere today.

What BB did in 2010 was mostly due to the QB who is playing w/ below average talent around him and yet he leads them to 30+ pts every week.

Vinny and Bledsoe were not great QBs and he got the best out of those guys. What has Romo done since BP left? He NEVER had a QB even in the same galaxy as Brady. To make a SB w/ Drew Bledsoe as your QB might be the greatest coaching job in the history of the game.

And where would Parcells have been without Lawrence Taylor? Wasn't Phil Simms named MVP of Super Bowl XX?

You can't dismiss a coach's accomplishments because he had great players, because you will always end up with a "which came first, the chicken or the egg" debate. You can only judge them on their results, and at the end of the day, BB has 3 titles and BP has 2 (both of which were led by BB's defenses.)

Parcells led a team to a SB w/o Lawrence Taylor.

Simms was a solid starting QB, he was not an all-time great and he won a 2nd SB w/ Jeff Hostetler against a heavily favored Niners team in the title game and a heavily favored Bills team in the SB and they won that SB on OFFENSE. Buf had the ball for 20 mins and scored 19 pts, NYG's O controlled the clock and they won b/c of it.

Check the record of BB w/ and w/o Tom Brady and let me know what you find. BB is a GREAT DC and has developed into a top HC BUT he would be a DC somewhere right now if not for tom Brady. Parcells won championships w/ 2 different QBs and made a 3rd w/ another. For me BB doesn't compare as a HC to a guy like BP or a Joe Gibbs(who won 3 SBs w/ 3 different QBs).

I say the Jets study the tapes from Mannings cold streak and just figure out what the hell they did to have him throw 11 INTs in 3 games. Could be worth a look...

Maybe Buddy can give Rex a talk about how the best way to defend a QB is to take him out of the game.

I think that had a lot to do with manning and his practice squad receivers not being on the same page.

Agreed, and I really hope Lowery gets the start over Smith on Saturday.

Maybe we can borrow the 1985 version of Steve McMichael, Wilbur Marshall, Richard Dent,...?

I think I agree, bc Smith really excels as that 8th man in the box role...he's just awful deep, in pass coverage.

I think we need someone who can call the defense better and make adjustments on the fly against Manning. Smith has a history of playing much better when he's the starter instead of a part time guy.

Blair White has been fucking up routes for Manning in multiple games. They are not on the same page most of the time. Get physical with White at the line to mess up the timing for the play. With Wayne and Garcon decently covered, this should limit Peyton's options. Collie torched our defenders last year, but this year they have White.

Damn Peyton is a football genius.

I still think we will blitz much less this time around.

Just make sure you give Vernon a picture of what a QB looks like, it's been a long time since he has seen one.

That was a really good read. Makes you appreciate just how much separation there is between Brady/Manning and all other QB's in the league.
