There really isn't a place for discussion of playing our favorite game on TGG.
This thread is intended for everything baseball/softball in terms of playing the game (STATS, how your non-professional team is doing, etc...)

I just bought this glove (3rd one in 4 months)

    14" outfielder's glove.

If you need info on breaking your glove or bat in, I'd love to discuss.

I play softball in a co-ed social league called Zogsports here in the city, and also in my company's softball team. The company's team plays on an asphalt field, which sucks, so I don't play as much.

    Asphalt, that's weird.

Closest I've come to that is playing on the fake-grass turf.

I sat out the fall league I usually play in because my summer league ran longer this year and fall started just 2 weeks after.

I played 3 leagues the year before, probably 50-60 games total and my body was shot. My batting STATS were drastically down so I felt I needed to sit out the Fall.

So basically what I'm getting at is that I can't wait for the warm weather to friggin play.

Back when I played competitivly, I had a 13inch Easton first baseman glove. Cost 250 bucks, still have it, too. Not alot of competitive leagues up here tho, at least not that are worth the time and money. I played in one 2 years ago and it was god awful, nothing but middle aged fuckfaces who wanted to get drunk more than play baseball.

Beer leagues are beer leagues IATA. The competitive leagues are great though down here there are a bunch of leagues with former semi-pro and pros (with quick careers) who still chase the dragon.

I've never owned an Easton mitt.

I've only messed with Wilson, Mizuno, Rawlings and Louisville Slugger.

I'm very much into Rawlings at the moment.

The thing was, I signed up via the YMCA and this was billed as a competitive league. Canadian baseball, what a joke.

I had a Rawlings mitt for years, loved it. The leather was great, especially for a cheap mitt(under $100)

    Ahh I see.

Yeah surprisingly you can get a great rawlings glove for cheap, I recommend them.

Played baseball through high school, then intramural softball and slow-pitch over summers with my high school friends. Was a lot of fun being 18, 19 playing against middle aged guys. I don't think they were accustomed to throwing behind runners and taking extra bases. Helped that 7/10 of the guys started on county winning high school team only a couple years before. Playing in a Hoboken league now, it's fun. Nothing special, but enough to get my fix once a week.

I play in a Sunday wood bat baseball league, it's pretty awesome. We missed the playoffs this past year, but we won three titles in a row before that.

2004 OG Easton Synergy Extended, best softball bat ever. I've had it for 6 years, and I still rip the ball...

    Yup.

Grandfathered in so it will never be illegal AND if you get it rolled it will essentially be brand new Sci.

Friggin cleats. Unfortunetly a large reason in why I don't play baseball anymore. It's hard to find size 16/17 cleats under $300 that are comfortable and high quality. Hell, when I played Varsity in HS I was using sheos that were 2 sizes too small because my family couldn't afford new ones.

I worked all summer for my god damn mitt, but couldn't commit anytime to working after that due to sports (football, baseball, wrestling) and thus, no new cleats.

Anyone ever sneak a fungo bat to a softball game? I did that last season, and no one noticed until after I cleared the ball about 300 feet.

they must have been heavily liquored up lol.

our umps check bats before the game. If they catch you with an illegal one, you get ejected no questions asked.

I've never had a bat rolled. I thought it just helped with the break-in process, but you make it sound like it can restore the pop?
