You all seem to be jumping the gun. Yes that was a great game but it was only one game and yes he did play great today and as a Jets fan I loved it. BUT, yet again it was only one game and :buffaloblows:. Lets hope he can be Shonne Greene 2.0 in the playoffs to go with the prototype. And if the pick works out and he plays like he did today we should stop doubting Tanny, this would make him a great drafter of talent.
Sanchize, this pick alone doesn't make or break Tanny. As for the kid, a lot of us "others" on this message board loved McKnight at Rd4 as well and our posts back during the draft support that contention. At the same time a lot of us are also not getting caught up tripping over ourselves with the need to crow "told you so!" That said, McKnight's not Shonne Greene 2.0; he's a different style of animal. Further, McKnight's still raw. He can drive you nuts doubling back 5 yards while reversing the field on a punt return like he did today....he'll also somehow run through a would-be tackler on that same punt, turn upfield and leave you grinning thinking "hmmmm...kid's got some 'skills'." (check him out as an underclassman vs. Ariz. St.)
I realize it doesn't but the man has made so many good picks in his years as GM Revis, Ferguson, Mangold, Harris Greene, Sanchez, Keller, McKnight. Just saying there are people who doubted Tanny's previous draft and its only year 1, and I was responding to them not commenting on making or breaking his career. I obviously know he doesn't play the same kind of football as Greene I meant he may have the same impact that Greene had in the playoffs. I am not an idiot its blatantly obvious that McKnight uses his speed and Greene uses his power and speed. Was I not the person who said its only one game so we shouldn't all be anointing him as the second coming.
jets have hit homeruns on almsot every 1st round pick (except gholston) revis, brick, mangold sanchez and have found gems late slauson 6th rounder mcknight 4th rounder smith 4th rounder connor 5th rounder
Yes to jumping the gun. I don't care because those of us that supported the guy dealt with 16 weeks of others jumping the gun while we preached a bit of a patience for the potential that he possesses. Today is a day for jumping the gun if I have ever seen one.
FTR, I don't give a shit at this point what people said. I just care that he finally showed the potential we were arguing was there. Plenty of people wrote him off and have come in today excited, not apologetic. Seems perfect to me. It was a great game for him, and something to build on.
I'm certainly not going back to hold it over anyone's head. We are all Jets fans and I am just glad that he has now shown that he can play in this league. Normally I wouldn't get this excited over a meaningless game but I have been waiting for Joe to prove to his doubters that he could play.
He was certainly the highlight of the game for me. He played great and showed the talent that some knew was there.
Nice job by Mcknight. Nice job by pretty much all of the backups, even Connor getting into the act averaging 5.5 per carry. Does this tell us anything? I hope it does but Joe needs to have a great offseason and come into camp in great shape and ready to go. There will be high expectations for him next year after disappoitning as a rookie.
Mcknight hasn't done anything yet to be considered a gem especially w/ what we did to get him. You'd count coleman as a gem?
