Jets want to re-sign both Edwards and Holmes

?

If you could only keep one, which would you choose?

  1. Braylon Edwards

    27.0%
  2. Santonio Holmes

    73.0%

For me as much as I hate to type it I think Jco will go. He signed a contract with the value of a no 2 wr and unless he will restructure he will be gone for whatever we can get for him. He is my favourite jet for his effort since being forgotten under herm but clearly his skill set is nowhere near what the other 2 are and if we want to keep B Smith also , someone has to go.

^ I really don't think J-Co will be let go. He's a long-tenured Jet and just because he's a had one bad year...his first real down year should not be the basis to let him go and I think Rex and co. recognize that. That doesn't excuse his drops. His resume and consistency over the years should not go unnoticed.

well if losing J-co means we would be able to keep Holmes and Edwards, I think Tanny would pounce on the opportunity.

J-co has had a terrible year, and generally thats not forgiven in the NFL. Can we trust him to be a stable #2 next year if we lose Edwards/Holmes? I don't know if we can. I would like to think so based on his history, but this past year has me doubting him somewhat.

You could have said the same thing about Edwards last year and from his troubled past catching balls in Cleveland, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I trust he can return to form. If Cotchery catches a couple tough 1st down catches in key situations and a couple scores in the playoffs...this all goes away.

the difference last year being that Edwards was new to our system, he came in mid year and still excelled for the most part. We also had no other options if we decided we didnt want edwards.

This year we have other options if we want to let Cotch go. We have the option of bringing back Edwards and Holmes.

I hope Cotch can return to form, but I'm not so sure he can any more.

He's only 28. That's still young and wide receiver's have a long shelf life. Like I said it's one year. If it becomes a pattern and he's still dropping those passes next year, then I'd start to get a little worried. You also have to remember that most of those drops came in bunches in bad weather games, so I'm confident he can get those mistakes corrected.

    It's been strange for sure.

Cotchery is under contract until 2012.

Why the fuck does anyone think he's gone after this year?

Traded is a maybe because anyone can be traded, but he's not going to be let go.

I don't know why people are even considering it, to be honest with you.

even if jco is let go I could see him re-signing here anyways for cheaper.

IDK what has happened to his hands this year but I honestly believe it's because he isn't playing as much.

As much as I'd like to keep both Braylon and Holmes it's probably better off for the team if we kept one and spent money on defense. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense IMO to sign both. You can always draft a WR in the 2nd or 3rd round and get a steal. DeSean Jackson, mid 2nd round pick. We don't have to lock ourselves into 2 WR's.

    I keep Holmes though.

Wow, clicked Edwards and was shocked how many people want Holmes. We have 11 wins if that endzone pass was to Edwards.

He have 11 wins if Keller catches the fucking pass against the Bears.

Holmes is a special player who consistently shows up in clutch at the end of games. He's done it his whole career.

You don't let that kind of talent go. They aren't easy to find.

If they can pay them both great.

Brad Smith won't cost as much as we think to resign him. They could easily have the cash.

im pretty sure he would restructure.

What i left out is..it appears Woodley will NOT be tagged, or resigned by the fucking Steelers. That is who we need. Our pass rush this year was ruined by the injury to Calvin Pace in preseason...then sprinkle Kris Jenkins.. No good.

Pace in preseason looked speedy as hell. Now if he wasnt hurt he would demand more attention in blocks...which would of made Jason Taylor, BT, and everybody else perform alot better.

Woodley on one side, and a healthy Pace on the other... would be devastation. Then we will see QB's making hilarious decisions like we did in 2009.

I agree, but if he gets ridiculous with the $$ Tanny better tell him to take a hike. McKnight could return kicks.. we just wont have his stellar wildcat shit, but fuck it. Sanchez will be better, and we wont need that shit.

LaCanfora reported yesterday on NFLTA that Woodley won't escape the franchise tag.

Take that for what it's worth.

I hope the Steelers let him go though....and Tanny delivers him to Rex with a big red bow on his head.

The famous crotch injury catch against Cleveland should make it hard for the Jets to let him go.What a moment!

i hope that clown LaCanfora is wrong. Of course we will draft defensively in the OLB/DE role, and maybe shooting for Woodley is a bit high.

Anybody have a list of OLB/Dline FA's next year?
