While it certainly is a shaft, it does help us a bit that Smith is not a pro bowler since he might kinda want to resign him.....he should come a bit cheaper.
Marc Mariani, Danny Woodhead, Jordan Shipley, Danny Amendola... Wes Welker has broken down barriers in this country. Or was it Steve Nash?
Yeah, I noticed that too. It's absurd. Both Mankins and Meriweather made the Pro Bowl this season based on what they did last season!
Cassel spanked Manning statwise, but it's all about name recognition anyway. And Brian Waters?? The dude is reliable for sure, but I can name 10 Chiefs more valuable to the team than him. The real crime is no Tamba Hali. At least the QB position has lots of competition for it, Tamba just got hosed.
I feel pretty confident that one of the major contributing factors behind Harris and Co.'s decision to not ask for a new contract this past off-season, other than the fact that Harris is the shit and genuinely wanted to concentrate on football, is that David's agents recognize the value of "Pro Bowls." I think they thought he'd be a lock to break out onto the national scene this year; he didn't. It's also telling that his teammates gave him the "Yo, Pay This Guy" award, AKA the team MVP. Previous winners include Thomas Jones going into a contract year, Leon Washington going into a contract year, and Laveranues Coles going into a contract year.
Jacoby Ford had a great year returning kicks this year, but I would say Brad Smith was invaluable to our team. A majority of his KR's put us in great starting field position.
MMMMMM..... the pro bowl is a popularity contest logan mankins missed more then half the season and he gets voted in?????????????????????????????????
I was going to say something similar. It's already a long shot (from what people have reported) that we resign him, a pro bowl would have made that possibility much more difficult.
I'm a big fan of B. Smith but how much of his success on kick returns is because of him and how much is because of Westhoff? We've had so many good return guys with Westhoff here. It seems like we can plug anyone in and they will do great.
I might be a Pats homer, but nobody can defend Meriweather. Even last season, he didn't deserve it. Most Pats fans will tell you that he's the Maroney of the defense (loads of talent, but doesn't listen to the coaches), and the third-best safety on the team at best (behind Chung and Sanders). Mankins is a bit different. He missed over half the season, but when he came back, the blocking improved dramatically. I still don't think he should have made it, though.
they have fans everywhere man. they probably had so many fuckers voting. id love to see how many votes each player got from the fans.
