The dude admitted to doing it. There really is no debating it. He honestly should be fired on the spot. It was a classless act and honestly, as a Jets fan, I'm ashamed it happened.
Terrible decision that reflects poorly on the organization. The guy should be made an example of and FIRED. The player is fine and the play was not affected. The "Least Classy" organization in your lifetime is really a stretch. 1- Bill Cowher almost punched an opposing player who was running for a TD. 2- Bill Belchick made tapes over 7 years that the commisioner had to burn. 3- Bill Belichik had Patriot personel setup video equipment incognito (not wearing patriots gear) during the Rams walkthrough prior to Super Bowl XXXVI. 4- Josh Mcdaniels in Spygate II had an assistant film a 49ers team walkthrough prior to game.Later saying that he did not see the tape and it was different from the Patriots because "that was practiced, that was coached, that was worked on" referring to the Patriots spygate controversey. 5- Don Shula left the Tarp off the field for an AFC championshp game!!!!
The bent his knees on purpose. He initially backed off slightly which probably gave the gunner the sense that the staff member was going to move. At the last second, he extended his left knee that caused the contact, and the fall/injury. It was a shameful act. Embarrassing. Hope he gets a nice warning to say the least. Just doesn't reflect good enough on our franchise, even though it was one individual's dumbheaded, last second stupidity.
the only thing that angers me is that he apologized for simply standing his ground against a miami player who was intentionally breaking the rules. he should be given a game ball. but it it was shotty then YES, he should be fired on the spot.
Being out of bounds in itself is not illegal, you must immediately attempt to get back inbounds. It is not uncommon for the outside man to wind up shoved out of bounds or blocked out of bounds, but when he does not attempt to get back on the field of play it is a penalty. Just because the guy is out of bounds doesn't make him fair game for the staff and players on the sidelines. If that was the case, why don't the players just clothesline anyone or spear anyone that goes out of bounds? There is no defense of this guys actions, there must be action taking by the front office to send a message to the team about sportsmanship and class.
It's another embarrassing moment in a long line of them, the staff is just as accountable as the players.
How did leaving a tarp off the field benefit the Phins? They had to play on that field too. LOL Now the NE snow plow incident is something you could have mentioned to take up some space.
Ha. Yeah. The ONLY thing he did was stand his ground. I must have briefly fallen asleep and dreamed that I saw his knee bend out towards the player. Then I woke up. Then I fell asleep again and dreamed that the guy apologized for tripping him.
I certainly think the intent was there and he should be punished but after seeing the replay quite a few times I'm not entirely sure he ever made contact. It appears that the Phag knew what was happening and attempted to avoid the injury and jumped over the knee. I have yet to see anything close enough to show me that there was ever any contact. You'd have to think if there was contact the guy on the sidelines would have either been knocked down or at least been moved from the force of the contact.
“ I wish they'd tripped me. I'd have broken that old man's leg. I didn't see anything. He stuck his leg out and tripped him? He should be ashamed of himself. A grown man from the coaching staff? That's high character. ” -- Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder
Agree it was a stupid thing to do....emotions took over and in a split second he made a bad decision. He probably should be suspended for a week and fined. If the Miami player blew out his knee, then I think he should be fired.
Channing Crowder, king of class. 22 tackles on the season, but there he was doing the airplane before any of this even went down (IIRC)
If the guy tries to go back inbounds instead of trying to run down the field out of bounds like he did earlier this doesn't happen. Fight cheating with cheating, I dig it!
