He isn't nearly as disappointing as Calvin Pace has been. If Pace and the D-line were doing their jobs better, Taylor would have more of a chance to apply pressure. He hasn't been great, but he hasn't been awful. He's surprisingly been very good against the run and I've seen him bat down a few balls at the line. He isn't the pass rushing force he has been in the past, but like I said.. he's playing better than Calvin Pace is.
JT hasn't done shit for us outside of the sacks vsNE and @MIA. He's been a dissapointment, along with Calvin Pace and BT.
the question brought up in another thread, would you rather have him or feeley at this point? jason taylor is a cumstain, he could have 40 sacks and he would still be a big gay cumstain.
cumstain...lol Anyway, at least Taylor has been solid against the run. Like somebody mentioned, the entire defense has underperformed this year save for Revis (he had his poor moments when he wasn't healthy but is back to being the player we thought he was) and Cromartie. As a pass rusher, Taylor has made some impactful plays but overall has been a disappointment.
Cmon he's 36 years old.................we have to be reasonable with what to expect from him in terms of sacks and overall play.
Dude calm down. JT has done more in a Jets uniform over the past 12 games than Veronica Gholston has in his entire career
He's had his moments but all-in-all this was CLEARLY a bad move. Our kicker has no folking confidence, and I have to clench my ass cheeks every time he kicks. Feely was much better. I'd rather see a guy like Westerman getting those snaps.
think of it like this we could have a kept a kicker that got us into the playoffs, punted and kicked vrs jason taylor a guy who said he would rather retire then lay for us. I personally think he should have retired. That was a smack in the face to all long time Jet fan, and the kicker
Taylor signed a deal for close to peanuts for a player of his caliber. He isn't even a starter. I think he has played pretty decent. I didn't expect him to have 20+ sacks and have a probowl season, I just wanted him to compliment the rest of the defense and he has done just fine.
Well, I wouldn't put all the blame on him, but our pass rush has been downright awful for some reason. He's made a number of tackles and blocked quite a few passes at the line IIRC.
I think the Kyle Wilson pick in the 1st round was accepted by most fans because we knew we would be facing a bigtime QB in the playoffs and needed to do something to address that. I personally wanted them to draft a rushbacker like Jerry Hughes because we also had problems getting to the QB last season, but the selection of Wilson reasonable and most fans felt it was a rational move. I guess the Jets felt that signing Taylor was better than selecting a rookie passrusher. I can see the logic of that, even though JT seems to have had little impact. I also think Taylor is picking up a doubleteam alot too. I don't know how much better a rookie would be doing right now. For immediate impact you're better off with a veteran player (usually). BUT... having said that, I was really confused by the Ducasse pick. That pick should have been used on a defensive player IMO.
This is crazy... Taylor hasn't exactly been the best player on our D has anybody else really stepped up on our D? The entire D is full of disapointments. To single out one guy who has actually made a few plays this year is just silly. He had the game sealing sack against the Pats, he had a sack in the Phins game and had a huge sack in OT against the Browns. He's also knocked some balls down at the line. Like has been said he has also been good against the run (one of his weaknesses). I think this thread is unwarranted as you could replace Taylor's name with Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, Sean Ellis, and Brian Thomas.
He's done virtually nothing as a pass rusher which is what he was brought in to do, he has been very good against the run. So far he certainly has not been worth letting Feely go to get him and w/ his track record of disappearing in big games I doubt we'll see much production from him down the stretch and in January.
I hate Jason Taylor. Now that I've got that out of the way, I have to say that while I wanted to see more from him, he has provided just what I expected for the team. He racked up some stats in a rotational role, and did not dominate like he had in his younger years. But Jason Taylor also had to do something he hadn't really signed up for - start for the first 4 games while Calvin Pace healed up. I had never envisioned him starting, and I have to say that he did alright for us. Has Jason Taylor turned an overall subpar pass rush into an elite pass rush? No. And if you expected him to, you really deserve the disappointment that you're feeling right now.
We were up by 14 very late against NE, it was a nice play- the best play(only?) he made all year but certainly not worth allowing our K to lave for. His sack against Miami was against a FB. The Cle "sack" was a case of the QB just trying to get out of his EZ and get down to keep the clock running. He did nothing on that play, the QB came to him. He's done virtually nothing all year rushing the passer.
