We also get an enormous gift week 16. What we did in the playoffs validates that we were a good team tho.
HAHA- Last year was not a fluke, our defense was pretty damn good. This year we reached the same win total of 09 in 11 games. This is the first game where the defense really got its doors blown off. Everything that could go wrong did, Weatherford punting like that?? Just everything- I don't see how any sane JET fan could consider Rex a fraud, that's just crazy.
I know I know. Jury is still out in my mind though. His clock management is awful. HIs time out usage is awful. His challenge management is HORRENDOUS, Im not sure I like the level of accountablity on this team, I think he needlessly puts a target on the back of his team, he failed to properly address the concerns throught our "lucky" stretch of games-instead he just said "we're great", we seem unprepared for a lot of games, we play donw to our opponents level. So lets not pretend we got vince lLombardi over here just yet.
Not saying that at all, he has a ways to go but you cannot question he is a defensive mastermind. I think if we had a OC to match, maybe a assistant HC/OC type of guy this team would be far better. I don't know if you're a Schotty hater or not, I was on his side but this last stretch of games I've seen poor gameplan after poor gameplan.
He might not be a fraud,he does seem to understand his mistakes and try to improve on them its the fact that he cant get over that whole im still gonna talk shit mentality no matter how bad we loose.Granted he should definately not change his ways now cause that may completely make his team loose faith in him but he should just stay a little more conservative of what he says during press confrences and interviews.Definately some un necessary quptes comin out of his mouth.
Seems to me we've won a handful of close games with Rex, which means he's not completely clueless with game management like Herm was. Yes the players had to make plays but you have to give them the chance by using timeouts correctly in the second half, etc. He's beaten some good coaches, too. It's easy to criticize everything he does after a bad loss, or just about any loss, you have to look at the big picture.
YEAH! Why is anyone discussing the cold facts related to our 9-3 season? Don't you realize we lost a game badly?! Isn't there some process we can go through where we withdraw our interest in competing in the playoffs? I mean, what's the point in even showing up? There's a chance we lose again! Look, this team is on the right track with a great GM with a plan, a great motivator who's learning how to be a great coach and a young team that's learning to win big games. It may not be this season, but I'll be very surprised if this team isn't in a Super Bowl in the next 3 seasons. This year we're probably have to win 3 on the road to get there, but it's been done before. And yeah, we'll probably have to go into Foxboro either in round 2 or for the AFCCG, but so what? The game will start 0-0 just like this one did and our coaches and players will have to step the hell up and get it done. And if they don't, we go into the off season, sign our keys guys, figure out who we have to sign/draft and kick some ass next year. Stop crying over something that's done. Totally. Right now, I think Rex is a great motivator, not so great coach. The O-Coordinator needs to go, and they need to promote Callahan, IMO. I think he does that in the off season. Where this coaching staff really fails though, is that they don't have a good counter plan or the ability to change their plan on the fly. This showed against the Colts. We owned them for most of the first half, but when they adjusted, we didn't know what to do. When it showed in the first quarter of the NE game that our game plan stunk, we didn't know what to do. I think he's committed to getting there, after all he himself said that he wasn't at BB's level yet.
I need him to stop Tom Brady. Unfortunately thats what we're up against. Last year I need the mastermind to stop Peyton Manning so I could see the Jets in the Superbowl. The other night I needed him to stop...err slow donw....errr get in teh way of at least, Tom Brady. He didnt do it. And I realize Im asking a whole lot. But if he cant do what Im asking, we aint winning s uperbowl until Peyton and Brady retire. Im sick of waiting.
I agree with the rest of your post but I think this part omits the fact that the opponents had something to do with it. You're talking about the two best QBs of this era (or any era) and maybe the best coach of all time. It's good that we're even in big games against them at this point in Rex and Sanchez's careers, but to just say we were inept and the opponents didn't have anything to do with that I think isn't giving credit where it's due.
I'm not taking anything away from the Colts or Pats, but what I am saying is that we don't seem capable of changing what we do to countermove what someone else does. With have this dogged commitment to the same offensive game plan all game or the same blitzes that don't work.
I agree, although they both are at home so makes it a little less probable. Here's how vegas has the games: 1) NYJ (9-3) win vs MIA (6-6) NYJ Favored by 6.5 + SD (6-6) loss/tie vs KC (8-4) SD Favored by 6.5 (wow) + JAC (7-5) loss/tie vs OAK (6-6) JAC Favored by 4.5 2) NYJ (9-3) win vs. MIA (6-6) NYJ Favored by 6.5 + SD (6-6) loss/tie vs KC (8-4) SD Favored by 6.5 + IND (6-6) loss/tie @ TEN (5-7) TEN Favored by 2.5 3) NYJ tie vs. MIA + OAK loss/tie @ JAC + + SD loss vs KC + IND loss @ TEN I'll be cheering heartily for KC, OAK and TEN for sure. That NE game was enough stress for an entire season from the 11 day build-up to the dramatic piano-drop in the first quarter. I'd whole-heartedly enjoy sitting back stress-free over the holidays just rooting for a NE divisional loss for an added bonus.
Dream Scenario as I see it is the scenario involving the Colts all but being eliminated against TEN. They would go down at the hands of Peyton yet again on Thursday. We beat Miami handily at home and just as I'm about to begin post-game celebrations CBS cuts to the Charger game where honorary NY Jet Nate Kaeding is lining up to kick a go-ahead field goal with 4 seconds on the clock.... 10 yards right of the goal post and KC wins 21-20....
I remember the 7-6 thread full well. Yea we all flipped the fuck out when he posted it but it did come true.
I'm one of the pessimistic fans believe me and I definitely got some of those "same ole' Jets" chills the other night but if we beat Miami to a pulp your attitude will change. This year in the NFL it's so week-to-week that whatever team gets hot going into January will be the most dangerous. The Pats look the like the best in league, but other than a lot of other years, it's MOSTLY Brady. You gotta get pressure on him, what else can you do?
Jets can clinch this sunday if..... This would be cool.....:finssuck::up::shit: http://blog.newyorkjets.com/2010/12/08/jets-have-3-ways-to-clinch-playoff-berth-sunday/ Jets Have 3 Ways to Clinch Playoff Berth Sunday Posted by Eric Allen on December 8, 2010 – 12:37 pm After becoming the final team to secure a playoff berth in the NFL’s 2009 season, the New York Jets can clinch a berth this weekend and still have three more games to play. There are three scenarios in which the Green & White can stamp a return trip to the postseason by Sunday night. Scenario 1 Jets (9-3) win over the Dolphins (6-6) Chargers (6-6) lose/tie against the Chiefs (8-4) Jaguars (7-5) lose/tie against the Raiders (6-6) Scenario 2 Jets (9-3) win over the Dolphins (6-6) Chargers lose/tie against the Chiefs (8-4) Colts (6-6) lose/tie at the Titans (5-7) on Thursday night Scenario 3 Jets (9-3) and Dolphins (6-6) tie Raiders lose/tie at the Jaguars (7-5) Chargers (6-6) lose to the Chiefs (8-4) Colts (6-6) lose at the Titans (5-7) on Thursday night The Jets currently sit one full game behind the Patriots in the AFC East as both teams are 3-1 in the division after splitting the season series. In conference games, the Pats are 8-2 and the Jets are 7-2. Sunday’s game against the Dolphins is a huge contest because it counts both in the division and the conference, and the Green & White will embark on a tough two-game road swing in Weeks 15 and 16 against teams with a combined 18-6 record. Jets’ Final Quarter vs. MIA (6-6), @ PIT (9-3), @ CHI (9-3), vs. BUF (2-10) Patriots’ Final Quarter @ CHI (9-3), vs. GB (8-4), @ BUF (2-10), vs. MIA (6-6) If head coach Rex Ryan’s Jets earn a spot in the postseason, it will mark their first back-to-back dance invitations since 2001 and ’02 under Herm Edwards.
I nice win vs. Miami, knocking them out of playoff possibility will go along way to changing the negative tone of some of the posts.
I really don't understand how the JAGS losing helps the JETS clinch. If the Colts lose also the JAGS are still in 1st place..... and still have a game vs the Colts
