Id love to get Landry or Bethea but can we risk the money? We NEED to resign Cro, Holmes, Harris, and most likely Braylon. This means we either a) Sign Cro, Holmes, Harris, and Draft a WR then sign Landry or b) Sign Cro, Holmes, Harris, and Braylon and draft a Safety. Not sure which one i like to be honest..
He's a good player but like Woodhead is a perfect fit for the Pats, he's a perfect fit for the Rex Ryan defense and the majority of teams in the league would not have a spot for a safety with his size. His main limitation is that he can't cover any tight end because he's so damn small. He gives 110% every week, leaves it out there, great tackler, runs the defense but his size can create mismatches in the passing game.
Antoine Bethea re-signed with the Colts. If we can re-sign Harris, Cromartie, and Holmes you can call it a successful offseason.
Agreed, He is better when the ball is on the ground and he can make plays in run support and be a sure fire tackler. He is a height mismatch in coverage and he just isnt amazing in coverage
He's really a safety that's best off with a big time guy at the other safety spot. He can do a lot of really good things, but can easily be exposed when he's asked to do too much in coverage. Losing the intangibles he has will be the biggest loss for however long he's out.
I wouldn't expect any big money moves in free agency. I think if we get a new safety it'd have to be via the draft, esp. since a pretty good but no great safety (Antrel Rolle) got a huge contract (highest paid S in the league I believe).
me thinks the general theme this offseason will be to get younger and faster in the front seven - specifically at OLB and DT/DE. jil
I think Beal is headed for a top 25 slot. Big 12 DPOY, and no one says a bad thing about this kid. In that case if the Jets are sitting at 32, Kerrigan might be the pick.
Jeremy Beal and Deandre McDaniel rounds 1 and 2. It's got to be this or some sort of variation of these 2 positions.
We need something to defend against that. We have Cotch, Holmes, and Edwards. No need to draft a WR who will just sit on the bench.
