Seeing how they are about to call the biggest game of the year, how do you feel about the men in the booth?
They're fairly annoying. Gruden knows his stuff, but gets more on my nerves every game. He always says dumb Madden-isms like "This guy is a football player." He will say this about Shaun Ellis tonight. Jaworski knows QBs. But overall, I'd say they're a fairly mediocre crew. Tirico is just boring.
NOBODY works as hard as John Gruden. I guarantee he says that about someone tonight. "Nobody works as hard as ____________" Other than that, I am a big fan of Gruden. He knows the game inside and out and does a great job of explaining it. Jaws is OK, his over exaggerated voice infliction bothers me, but he's OK. Torico (sp?) does fine, he is hardly noticeable to me which is just fine.
We are stuck with the ESPN crew. However, if I have too I will pull up ESPN NY online and turn the sipound down on the TV. The only problem with that is there may be a delay. I think I may have talked my self out of listening on line..... SO I go back to my first point, we are stuck with them.
after hearing the NFL network crew, they're fantastic. jk They're annoying. The thing is, both Jaws and Gruden really know football, they just suck as Color Commentators. Jaws or Gruden would probably be less annoying with another presence on there, but the both combined are pretty annoying and kinda stale. Tirico is actually a good play by play guy, but i hate him because he tries to do color also at times. That's usually when he's licking the balls of someone like Brett Favre or Tom brady. he should leave the analysis to jaws and gruden i'm sure we'll be hearing a lot of brady slurping tonight. ESPN should steal Tim Ryan away from Fox. he's awesome...both as a color commentator and on Sirius radio.
I used to enjoy him on PTI but after his (short) stint on MNF I truly can't stand him anymore. I like the ESPN MNF crew, mainly cus like WSW said NOBODY works as hard as Jon Gruden. For real tho, he's an excellent announcer I hope nobody hires him to be a coach.
I like Jaws a lot...Gruden at times is solid but at times he kisses way too much ass. At some time you can be negative - not ever player is amazing.
One thing I noticed about MNF crew is the are biased throughout the game. They hype the shit out of what's working the first half, then in the second half if it isn't working they explain how horrible the team is for trying it. A little off topic but... Funniest yesterday was in the cowboys game when Manning threw the first INT. Buck said something when the pass was thrown..."Manning looking deep, what a throw.........intercepted" *Edit* heres a link.
