That pissed me off so much. The team is 8-2, a 2nd half team, and had 3 straight crazy comebacks. You don't boo your 1st place team down by 3 at halftime.
I was at the game and I booed as well. The fans are going to give feed back, that's what they do. That place was deafening in the 2nd half when the team started to play well. I still like Rolle and I like his attitude, I just want him to take it out on the other team.
Jets and Giants tickets are EXPENSIVE. I see no problem with booing either team if they aren't playing up to par. The Jets were down by 4 to the Bengals going into the half. Thats not why the fans booed. They booed because the Jets played like crap and not up to their standards against a 2-8 team. I see no problem. I was pissed too at my house. Let the players know thats not acceptable play.
Between this and criticizing the coaching staff earlier in the season for getting to the stadium too early, it sounds like Rolle has a little bit of Tiki Barber in him.
Rolle is just a really passionate guy who doesn't think before he talks. Guys like Rhodes say things for reactions, Rolle says things because he has no filter. In AZ no one gives a shit, but that's a lot different in this market.
I don't try to tell people how to act but I hate this justification for booing your team. Fans are booing because they are emotional not because they think the players need to know their play was unacceptable. You really think professional athletes can't tell that being down by 4 at the half isn't good? They know it and were probably plenty frustrated themselves. In a situation like that it could be more beneficiary to show some faith that they will work it out and refrain from booing. In the end they are professional athletes and they have all heard worse things than their home fans booing them going into half so it shouldn't be much an issue either way. Weird justifications like the players needing to know they didn't play well are not the actual reason for booing.
I agree with him, what's the point of home field advantage if your own fans can't show support. Just like Wayne Hunter said, "than fans don't know how much it really effects us." Do fans really think these players are trying to go out and lose? If a team is a having a bad game and little boost in moral would work wonders.
"We risk ourselves out there on the field each and every day also. When soldiers come home from Iraq you don't boo them. I look at it the same way. I take my job seriously."
