3 quick things. A) Boston re-signed Veritek B) Winter meetings start soon. Lee's agent said they will begin accepting offers during the meetings. C) Yanks tell Jeter they will increase offer. Also the Mantle letter is completely fake but hilarious.
If we hear this than it must mean that http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...io.html?r=sports/baseball/yankees&utm_source= HALLELUJAH
According to Jon Heyman, the Red Sox were one of the teams that offered Rivera 3 years (don't know if they were the ones that offered 3/$51M). Yet Mo took a year and $20M less to stay with the Yankees. The real Captain... Speaking of the bullpen, George Sherrill was non-tendered by the Dodgers tonight, now he's a free agent. He'd be a great sign considering he'll probably get less money than he's worth. He's still very good against lefties. Take him from a terrible, abusive bullpen manager and give him to one of the best, he could have a great year.
Buster Onley reporting that the Yankees are conversing with Carl Crawford http://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/10686153334198272
Probably just driving up the price for Boston and Anaheim. That, or they think Lee is likely to go back to Texas, and they need to sign Crawford so they can trade Gardner or Swisher in a package for a starter.
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...tial_progress_in_negotiati.html#ixzz176LtqCPi I hope Jeter at least had the decency to use lube.
Nice...Boston just made a deal for Gonzales and will probably get Crawford too. What is Cashman doing? Jumping off buildings and worrying about signing Jeter for 3 times what he is worth. He never disappoints.
Actually, most people are saying this takes Boston out of the Crawford sweepstakes. We'll see. I hope you're not suggesting that Cashman should have tried to trade for Gonzalez, though. You ask what Cashman is doing? What else should he be doing right now? He's (probably) going to sign Lee. And Pettitte, too, if he wants to come back. The Yankees have no other needs... or roster spots available, really. Unless they get creative (which is possible) signing Crawford on top of Lee probably means a $230-240M payroll, and I doubt that's going to happen. It'd be nice if, just once, you were on the record stating what you think should be done before anything happens instead of just complaining after the fact.
Cappy: It'd be nice if, just once, you were on the record stating what you think should be done before anything happens instead of just complaining after the fact Don: They should do something I approve of
Do you ever stop crying? Jeez man give it a break. Most of the Yankee fans have great opinions but you never offer one. All you do is bitch about what the Yankees aren't doing. Answer the question, what do you think they should do? You act like the Yankees need to replace their current all stars with more all stars. You do realize they only have a 25 man roster right?
