Exactly. Walk up to the majority of Pats fans and they have no idea. I don't think they even know that Parcells coached there.
Only a dickless monkey would deny the obvious. You act like no one's a true fan except Jet's fans? Puhleeze. Craig James, Jim Plunkett Curtis Martin Rick Fox Joe Andruzzi Ben Coates to name a few more...
I know I can't prove I knew those names without browsing the web but I did. So what's the point? I think it's a function of age as much as anything. I mean how many 20 something year olds know that much beyond their current set of teams. I mean how many players from the Superbowl III Jets team could some 20 something Jet fan name beyond Namath?
I'm 22 and not huge on Jets history. I can name Namath, Maynard and Boozer. Weeb Ewbank was the coach.
Okay, maybe not that many, but you get my point. Also, Greene should be used more by week 13 at cold Foxboro, the man lives for those kind of games.
Hate to come down on a fellow Pats fan but Rick Fox played for the Celtics. Tim Fox played for the Pats. Are you sure it wasn't Ricky Martin and Rick James?
3-1 in our last 4........... that says it all. for awhile it was an automatic loss. now they're scared to play us they're not going to be able to spread is out like they did pittsburgh because our corners are much better. But i think they'll use their TE's again quite a bit like they did in the first game. we just need to torch their secondary like we did the first time. foxsboro is a tough place to play though. i'll feel a lot better if we can go in there 9-2 and they're only 8-3 (or 7-4, not happening but just saying). The difference between a wild card and division winner is going to be huge.
And Holmes wasn't available for this game. None of New England's DBs can stop Holmes. Especially not in the 4th quarter.
Damn right - if us fans don't stay focused on the next opponent we will probably overlook them and lose. Good point.
After living in New England for over 20 years (mid 70's to early '00's), I can attest to that. You almost never saw any Pats paraphernalia (except possibly in '96) and it was rare to even get a game televised in their home market because of the lack of sellouts. It was only when Belichick started winning did people start jumping on the wagon. Me, I've been a fan of the Jets thru think and thin, mostly thin. I still remember my dad and us kids freaking out when they switched to the movie Heidi.
If you've lived in New England for 20 years then you should know that the Patriots started getting a large consistent following upon the arrival of Drew Bledsoe and the Big Tuna. I would even go as far as to say as far back as the 85 SuperBowl. The fans were already in place when Belichick arrived.
