I've seen it so many times this week and it's getting under my skin. Jets fans are commenting on how great the Patriots and Tom Brady are playing while downplaying the Jets 7-2 record. I think most of that comes from there victory over the Steelers.

They just beat on a Steelers team that is decimated by injuries in the trenches. While it was a nice win, they didn't stomp on the Steelers team that looked like the #1 team in football early in the season. People are acting like they beat the steel curtain Steelers.

How quickly people forget that just one week prior to that, they were completely dominated by a tough, physical Browns team. The Browns are very similar to the Jets, they play physical smash mouth football and love to run the ball. They have a Ryan coordinating the defense. The biggest difference between the Browns and Jets right now is that the Jets have far more talent, especially in the passing game. Tom Brady and the Pats have averaged 14 PPG against Ryan defenses this season.

The Pats are a good team, they have a great QB and a great coach, but they are not on some sort of blazing war path and/or looking unbeatable. The Jets match up very well against them and if we play our game should handle them again when we face them in a few weeks. Just like we have 2 of the last 3 times we faced them. Just like 3 of the last 4 times Brady faced a Ryan defense.

Stop listening to whoever is telling you the Pats are some great team. It's not 2007. They need to fear us!

I don't fear the Pats but I (not saying you don't) acknowledge the fact that the game in Foxboro should be a tough one. I still fully expect a W

Nobody "fears" the Pats. They are a good team, obviously well-coached and are a contender, but nobody "fears" them. We've already beat them once this year.

Right now, it appears the Jets are better than the Pats in terms of who has beaten who. The Jets beat the Pats, the Browns beat the Pats, the Jets beat the Browns. I still think the Pats are trouble. I honestly don't know who the better team is right now, but were I to rank the top 5 right now, it would probably be something like:

    1) Jets
    1) Pats
    3) Philly
    4) Atlanta
    5) Giants

For weeks I've been saying the Giants will win the NFC, and I'm really starting to believe that before a NY Super Bowl, we're going to have a conference championship weekend of division rivals.

So needless to say, I think it's a bad idea to believe that the Patriots are not an elite team, and have just as much right to the spotlight as we do. Keep in mind, while NE may have lost to the Browns the week before we beat them, we were pretty close to not beating a much weaker Detroit.

I want to see how the Giants do against Vick and the Eagles this week...before I'm ready to hand them the NFC.

I'm not trying to say they aren't good. I'm saying a) we match up very well with them and b) I'm sick of reading people comment about them like they're on a higher level than us.

I've read a lot of comments this week that stink like fear.

The Patriots game is definitely going to be touted as a "statement" game. the Pats will be given the bennefit of the doubt as usual, and it will be us who are there to prove ourselves, regardless of what happens this week. I am all for being the better team and the underdog at the same time.

I don't "fear" them in the sense that they're better or we can't beat them, but as long as they are tied with us they are a cause for concern. Simply because if we manage to not win the division, all the wins and tiebreakers in the world aren't going to do us any good, we'll be on the road for three playoff games like every other time we've made it except for 1998 and 2002. So yeah, I think we're a better team and we have a win vs them in the bank, but as long as they are right there with us we have no margin for error or we could waste a great season.

Is tha an intentional typo in the title?

As long as they have Brady they will always be dangerous but just about evrey position outside of NT and QB we are better than the Pats and we should win this division.

That's perfectly reasonable and I don't think anyone would disagree. It's just the stench of fear that's been wafting around lately that burns my nostrils.

That's definitely fair enough. I'll tell you what, Vick has the potential to be the guy to take the Eagles all the way. I never thought I'd say that before Monday.

I do agree with you. The idea that they're significantly better than us is ridiculous. I just think that it's a very tight race and that both them and us are the best in the game right now. So I still fear them, and will until we're playing in Dallas on February 6.

I don't think we have any team to really fear, we can beat any team on any field, in my opinion. It's not unlikely though, that the Pats could do one of their smoke and mirrors jobs while we trip up against the Bears or Bills and end up a Wild Card. It's happened before.

If both teams keep winning the game in Foxboro could very well be the difference between home field advantage throughout and a wildcard spot. We're going to go into there house, punch them in the mouth, steal there lunch money and the #1 seed.

Vick is more dangerous now than he was with Atlanta.....because Andy Reid taught him how to be a pocket passer.

sorry for deterring from the topic.....I should've posted this in a thread called "START fearing the Eagles"
