I'm guessing the reason the father didn't fight back is that they were at an away game...the article mentions nothing of who was around at the scene. I bet you if it were the opposite, if Jet fans just saw a Browns fan (an adult) at New Meadowlands beating a Jets fan up without first seeing the Jets fan tackle his poor Browns fan son, some drunken Jets fans would wanna go stomp the Browns father's ass in an effort to protect our own. The father in this case should have reported it to authorities though.

pretty much. I'm not a fighter simply because it isn't worth the risk of an ass kicking...unless someone attacks my child. at that point, it is thumbs meet eyeballs.

The fact the father did nothing and that police were not involved suggests this is most likely just a pathetic attempt at a lawsuit because a drunk guy accidentally fell on somebody's kid.

If the same thing happened at the Meadowlkands (assuming this story is accurate) and a drunken Jets fan tackled a young Browns fan, as a father, I would instantly come to the defense of the Browns father and son.

Just think, take off the jerseys and have that happen, and think about how f-ed up it is.

There's probably more (or less) to this than we are hearing, however.

what's interesting is that the wife (who didn't seem to go to the game) is the one claiming this......

the father obviously thought it wasn't a big enough deal to call the police. something's not right

This is what is wrong with going to NFL football games today, too many drunken assholes. An what does the NFL expect, when people start drinking at 8 in the morning, an for a 1 O'clock game they have been stewing for 5 hours. An sad to say most folks think that is just fine, almost a rite of passage, if you will. Notice the mother also said, people were throwing food at the father and son, takes a real man to throw food and whatever else at an 8 year old.

Even on this board, people have to make a joke about it, nothing wrong, it's all fun and games right folks. The kid deserved what he got for wearing that opposing jersey to the game. This is one of the main reasons many familes don't even waste there time on going out to see live games anymore. This fucking country gets more sad by the year, when people will pull this kind of crap, and other think it no big deal.....

You know what is even sadder, most of the people who control this country think booze is just fine, but think evil weed will take this country down. I got 100 bucks that say's if drinking was never allowed at a game and all you could do was smoke weed, there would not be one stupid fight the whole game and fans from both sides would have a great expereince...

True, sometimes you need to know when for the safety of your family you need to put your own ego aside.

What good is it going to do if 5 of his friends decide to jump you when you go to fight the one? Then your wife decides to try and pull them off you and ends up getting hit. That will really teach your child a good life lesson.

Or 16 pregnant women? The child is still in the whom so it's not 1 yet, so maybe even 32 pregnant women.

I hope the Jets do something nice for the kid, I imagine the father did not react considering the situation of being surrounded by Browns fans. That being said I would've likely stabbed the guy.

Exactly what I was thinking. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. If JetDad decides to jump on Brownsfan, who's to say this doesn't get blown up into a full fledged jollystomping by the other frustrated and drunk Browns fans nearby. Dad only did one thing wrong. He should have reported it immediately to the Police or Browns Security.

My son goes to games with me and had this happened to us, there would have been bloodshed for sure.

Where were the other Browns fans when this was happening, they should have taken this guy out. Pussies.

Why didn't the idiot go after the father? An 8 year old kid? WTF? Loser!!!!

    Agreed.
    Son's safety > father's pride.

If they're cool tackling a defensless kid. I'm sure they're cool with doing much worst to this child as he's watching dad getting curbstomped by an angry, drunk mob. Imagine this scenario ... father is getting the beaten up by 5+ guys & his son jumps in to help & now both of them are on the ground getting stomped on.

Best move is to get the boy out of there & then look for police or security.
