Regarding that pick: a) He's a rookie, b) It's a heat of the moment play. Also, the jets would have to punt from midfield and Weatherford has done a nice job all season pinning teams deep and the punt coverage has been solid all year. Imo, the Browns would have been in the same situation as they were.
It had more to do w/ the time. W/ a punt another 5-10 secs comes off the clock and who knows if Cle then decides to throw on 1st down like they did? They also could have gotten a touchback and then we don't have the great FP? he might be right.
