And let's be fair here, the Jets have yet to break out. They have only played solid once or twice this season. Like last year, I expect the D to get stronger as the season progresses, and Sanchez is making more strides. Greene is starting to warm up as the weather gets colder. Jets just need to limit mistakes today and play solid football to win. Run the ball well, high percentage passes and stop the Browns run game.
Raise your hand if you can faintly hear Raiderjoe gurgling and drooling on himself somewhere far off in the distance.
Lets review the "Best special teams" claim. NFL Rankings of course.... Kick return average.... #1 New York Jets 28.6 yards per return . . . #31 Cleveland Browns 17.7 yards per return Punt returns.... #4 Cleveland Browns 13.1 yards per return . . . #14 New York Jets 9.7 yards per return Huge difference in kick return yards, Cleveland doing slightly better in punt returns.
FG Percentage #11 Phil Dawson - Cle 85% #12 Nick Folk - NYJ 84% Punting - Net Yards #4 - Reggie Hodges - Cle 39.9 net yards per punt 41 punts for 1797 net yards #6 - Steve Weatherford - NYJ 39.7 net yards per punt 44 punts for 1966 net yards Punting Yards per punt #11 - Steve Weatherford - 44.7 #19 Reggie Hodges - 43.7
Good job statmasters. Brown to the Bone clearly has not mastered the Internet and all it's tools yet.
do they still have Kenyon Coleman, David Bowens, Abram Elam, Jason Trusnik, Eric Barton, CJ Mosley and other refuse dumped in the garbage by the Jets?
I'm predicting a big win for the Jets, a big day for Braylon and a Kyle Wilson's breakout game. Let's do this!!!
I hope today is SG's break out game and he runs for a buck twenty hard runs and 2 scores. Go Jets, beat the shit stains!!
When every team has kick the ball to our 20 to AVOID Cribbs, STATS don't tell the story NOW do they. If you get the ball on the 20 and run it out to the 30-40 yard line what is the return yardage on that and does it reflect return yardage in the same way other teams return yardage might. While I may not have mastered the internet as you say, you haven't been given any awards for reading comprehension either have you? Another stat that lies Hodges has and I guarantee this put more balls inside the 10 then any other kicker in the league where does that show up in the STATS. In this case the old saying that stats are for losers applies. I got to go time to go watch the Browns lay the wood to the Jets. I'll be back win lose or draw.................. BTTB
NFL.com doesnt measure punts inside the 10, but they do punts inside the 20. #6 Steve Weatherford - NYJ 17 #7 Reggie Hodges - Cle 16. Hodges has the 60 yard run, but thats about all he has on weatherford this year... What stat should be taken into account should be average starting Field Position after a KO. Otherwise we can't justify your claim based on the statistics. You can't go based on avg starting field position because of turnovers and whatnot. So I don't know where to look to try and justify or refute your claim based on the statistics.
BttB, please do come back, Johnny English prepares a mean dish of crow in the proper British style. See you this afternoon.
He hasn't quite mastered the english language either. Needs a bit bigger fingers to catch up to jeaux though.
Did anyone mention that Cribbs has 20 returns for an average of (21.4 yds, 22nd in the league) to Brad Smith's 22 returns (30.7 yds, 9th in the league)? Maybe it is Cleveland who will be kicking short to avoid Smith..just saying.
Jets 6-2 Browns 3-5 since stats are for losers... then I guess its cool that we have a better record eh? we don't need to churn stats to prove anything about special teams.
