I agree we're much better off at CB#2, but Wilson was supposed to upgrade CB#3 for us. I liked Strickland a lot, he just couldn't stay healthy. Having Coleman at #3 is a downgrade.
Even Lowery is an upgrade over Coleman....wtf happened to him? I know he's not very fast...but he's a ballhawk that makes the occasional play (ie Vikings game ending INT).
I agree. The only thing I can dream up is that they wanted to get Coleman experience in case he needs to show up in the playoffs again. That doesn't make much sense considering Wilson needs the experience most. It would be a good question for the reporters to ask Rex.
the only logical reasoning I can see Coleman starting over Lowery...is because Coleman is fast enough to play man-to-man...where Lowery has been burned playing man-to-man. But Coleman is getting burned, even with his speed advantage. Wilson needs to step up his game.....I don't want to see Coleman getting torched in the playoffs again.
Maybe they are grooming Lowery as a safety. One can certainly make that leap of logic from the anecdotal evidence. It is strange that he hasn't been on the field very much.
i'm not sure I'd want Coleman on my practice squad....let alone as my nickel corner. If Wilson isn't up to speed...I'd drop Coleman in the depth chart...and give Lowery a shot. I do agree with you....in regards to grooming Lowery as a future starting Safety though.
Strickland was a very good fit in this defense. The problem was he was used as a hybrid Safety/CB and his body couldn't hold up to the physicality required. He was very very under rated when healthy. I am surprised they at least didn't give him another shot.
