Nice, but if Eric Smith had Dreds what role would he play?

He would play the role as the Whoopi Goldberg look-a-like in the Jets Look-a-like thread.

I Think it all comes down to that Shotty is mentally retarded...

Of course, it's always Shotty's fault.

I think we need a guy who's primarily a slot WR because imo that's a useful role... not because our division rivals have one.

That said I do agree that both Holmes and Cotchery can play there... I'm just saying that's not the position they excel in. Cotchery isn't explosive enough and Holmes isn't sure handed enough. They are both better out wide. Serviceable inside but better out wide.

It's not a BIG problem... just a thing that imo would help the offense move the chains more.

Shhhhhhh... damn it puck... can't you see I'm trying to start a Woodhead thread without people acutally noticing it!? Don't screw everything up... :p

His name was Chansi stuckey, and Sanchez looked great with him at slot WR.

    Then he got traded.

Slot WR is interchangeable on this team due to who the Jets have. The checkdown is the RBs.

If we had an offensive coordinator who knew how to quickly integrate weapons into the offense, Santonio Holmes would be the best slot receiver in the league right now.

Holmes is perfectly suited for the slot. Small, quick, great burst, good on slants, superb body control. Because of his big play ability and "WR1" pseudo-status, you get the impression Holmes wouldn't like to be a "slot" guy. But it's the ideal place for him. Problem is, it's going to require a lot of Sanchez-Holmes chemistry and timing to work, and why waste time with that when you've got double end-arounds to practice?

FWIW, I like Cotchery best on the outside. He's an excellent route runner; that's not necessarily an advantage in the middle of the field, where someone is typically in zone coverage. Better to have him working on an island against a cornerback. Cotch has excellent field awareness and does well near the sidelines.

Stuck is basically the perfect slot guy (for a team with a decent passing game, aka not cleveland) But I'd rather have braylon Edwards every day of the week.

When is Stuckey's contract with the Browns up? I'd love to have him back...

I would take Braylon any day too...I just think we have too much talent at WR to be asking for Chansi back...
