My point is we don't need to even discuss his playcalling of one specific play if someone, anyone, on offense besides Sanchez makes a play at some point in the game. Greene and LT with long carries of 8 and the WR's with their drops weren't cutting it. Schotty most certainly has his issues but it's so simple for fans to blame a coordinator after they lose. Steelers fans are calling for their defensive coordinators head right now, you think they are right? Yeah, you guys aren't either, you're all just taking the most simple minded view point and running with it.
No - that was at home. and FTR it shouldn't have been a fumble either , like the two INT's yesterday should not have been INT's. There's nothing wrong with gadget plays when a defense is rushing hard on the edges - which the Pack was doing all day yesterday( regardless of how banged up their Dline was). Problem with the play was execution. Too many mistakes yesterday (drops /penalties/blown blocks) caused this loss.
Hail Mary ?????. It was like a 40 yard pass on 3rd down. And I'm pretty certain Sanchez has options on that play that are underneath and medium depth. He read the defense incorrectly figuring he had something that was not there. Plays that get executed are not always the plays that are called - OC's take too much heat in that regards.
My beef with last night My main problem (which has been building in the past few weeks) is our run-pass ratio. Tomlinson and Greene ran only 22 times, while Sanchez threw 38 times. To me, that it just ridiculous with the talent we have at RB and OL. We preach the whole ground and pound philosophy, but have yet to actually follow through on it. A game when Sanchez and the recievers aren't connecting means its time to run the ball, run it again, and then run it again. With a depleted packers defense we could have just worn them down to the point where we could do whatever we wanted. And its evewn more disappointing that Greene only had 6 attempts to LTs 16. LT has been great and we need to keep giving him the ball, but he is going to get worn out (especially when you factor in his receptions) very soon. And its not just that LT is getting more attempts hes just playing in the game more than Greene (52 of 69 snaps) and exposing himself to more hits. We will go nowhere if he continues to get the bulk of the playing time, wears out midseason, and all we have left is Greene.
The Packers were stacking the box. It would have made bad football sense to keep running when you're getting stuffed on each play.
This. We couldn't run effectivly, which got Sanchez out of sync because there was consistently, pressure on him. He was never able to really sit back and make the best throw possible, most of his passes were on the run. OL shit their pants yesterday.
No it wouldn't. You get bigger and bigger until you can impose your will on them. They kept trying to run from bad formations yesterday. After a layoff, and against a tired Packer team, They should have been seeing Hunter and Turner and Conner and Greene all through the first half.
After the game that's what Clay said, the gameplan was to stop the run and force Mark to win the game. I never would've expected to blame the receivers but the for the most part, I do.
That's the major difference between Woodson and Revis. Revis prides himself on shutting down the opposing teams WR, while Woodson is not afraid to give up some plays to make a big play. For instance, for the sake of this post lets say Woodson's INT was legit, he jumped on the ball knowing full way if he came up empty Keller would have had an easy catch and maybe a 10 yard gain. Revis would not want to risk his ego to jump a ball, which to some may be thought as a good thing. Would you rather have Revis shutdown a WR or risk a few catches to try and make a game changing INT? The Packers ran that quick slant at least 5-6 times, it would've been nice to see our "best defensive player" make a play on the ball.
LOL that is hilarious. Great gameplan Schotty lol I guess its true, if you can call most of all the plays from the nose bleed then the 11 guys on defense can too....... lol
Thank you. If you watch that play again, the long ball was defenetly not Sanchez's first read. You can see him progress through 2 or 3 recievers before he threw that ball. So saying the call was a hail Mary on 3rd and 8 is just ignorant.
Think I was watching the wrong game. The Jets game I watched .... the running game kept getting stuffed & open receivers kept dropping the ball (best case scenario) or letting Packer DB snatch it away. The execution by offense was bad. How can Schotty call the plays to make sure the offense actually executes properly?? Fans looking for goats but don't want to be rational. Schotty might not be Bill Walsh but the execution on offense sucked.
I think it had alot more to do with execution. Sanchez had trouble with the wind, but he made more than enogugh good passes to win the game IMO. I think the receivers let him down quite a few times, between drops and allowing themselves to be outfought for the football.
that has nothing to do with their D ... it seemed like they knew what was coming from our passing game, and it turns out they did know
Play calling??? really? We lost this game because of play calling? Are you kidding me? The over-reaction of Jet fans never ceases to amaze me. The reasons we lost this game had NOTHING to do with the plays being called. How about one of our receivers actually hanging onto a pass? That would have helped ... don't you think? Or maybe not faking a punt on 4th and 18 deep in our own backyard. Or maybe the officials recognizing the difference between an INT and down by contact. Or maybe the head coach having a better grasp of the value of timeouts, field position and time management. The defense should be proud of the way they performed. Everyone else should be emabarassed. It was a terrible game ... it happens. Just calm down. We were a Superbowl caliber team before the game, and we're a Superbowl caliber team this morning. End of story.
how about passing the ball 16 times more than you ran it with running backs against the 25th ranked rushing defense team? A team that's allowed over 150 yards in its past two games and has an injured defense with a Jets outcast on their starting DL? I'd say that's putrid play calling.
