Listen If you would actually read my post a couple times, it might sink in. Who cares what happened last year. (give me all the stats you want) All that matters is a team knowing where there weakness was(like on defense) and fixing those problems. For example, a couple yearsago, Jets had an aging LB corp with Mo Lewis and marvin Jones. That slow LB corp was a big part of the reason why, Jets had the worst run defense and had trouble stopping the pass. BY signing E Barton and J Vilma it fixed that problem tremendously(where did Jets finish defensively next year)

Reason why Raiders had so few interception and the defense numbers were bad, is with OLB Sam Williams being lost for season(Preseason) Raiders were forced to try and play a couple of DES at OLB(G irons 6'5 285 and 6'6 285 Tyler Brayton) . They really didn't have one lb that was good in coverage. Most of damage in the pass game was to TE and RBS out of backfield. To combat teams picking on Lbs and safety , Raiders went to a big nickel defense(give them smaller DBS that would match up better to TES and RB) When you go with more DBS than LBs, you open yourself up to teams being able to run the football alot more sucessful on you.
Raiders have made changes to fix that Problem . They severly upgraded their speed at LB and these LB have the abilty to cover(Thomas Howard, D Bing, R Thomas and Not to mention return health of Sam Williams. You add that to Drafting OF SM Huff-who IF they want can take care of those TES man to man.

Recap Faster LB core (more range) + A MIcheal Huff (can do so MUch) = a much more efficient defense as safetys and CBs don't have to worry about covering up for LBs. Also Their Dline is way faster group than last year. Now you add a L Johnstone on Obvious passing downs to complement NFL Sack Leader D burgess ,you have something special.

NOw since raiders are starting real LBS and not smalls DBS lets see how well teams run against Raiders.
ITs extremely big and very very fast defense raiders will have next season.
Lets the numbers speak for themselves next season.

i know where you are coming from. But the way I see it, you keep the players that really make a difference for your team no matter what the cost. i.e. the O-Line man and qb. those are the guys you try to hold onto but almost any other position can be used as a rotation so those are the guys who are expendable. every year may be different with different guys, but as long as you have those 5 guys up front and ur qb is in good shape, everything else should fall into place because every other position is about competition so theres no shortage of that there.

it will be fun because it will be about guys that really care about and love football. When you see guys helping each other out and playing with passion it doesnt matter if you win or lose beacuse u know they tried there hardest.

Very true, but I still think we'll at the very least be better than last year. We were playing with our 3rd string QB,and our O-line as it was,was not blocking for the run,and that was the part of the season we did have Mawae. Curt was struggling, yet Mr BBq vowed to let his tank run dry. This year,I don't see Mangini sticking with non productive guys. Any position is that guys job to lose.

As long as it doesn't turn into another rebuilding decade I'm ok with a year of transition. What else did we have to do?

Geez, you spend all that time swatting with rolled-up newspapers and rubbing his nose in it when it's still fresh, and what do you get for your efforts? This shoe full of verbal excrement.

Come on, jeaux, the world doesn't read in shorthand.

Kind of like how admitting you have a problem is half the battle?

You'd HAVE to concede that you've been a moving target over the last couple years, Jeaux. Any of the regular Jeaux-watchers can back me up on this. The only thing you've been consistent with is the heights, weights and 40 times of all your favorite players. And that's just fine.

But THIS year. . . . THIS is the year where you REALLY mean it - the Ráidiêrs are on the way back!! THIS is the year where you REAALLLLY understand what all your prior weaknesses were, and you've capably tied-down all loose ends. And we're supposed to just erase from our minds all the platitudes of the last THREE ([IMG]) years?! We're supposed to forget all the dopey threads you started, where you crow about any one of three [IMG] things:

    (a) The Ráidiêr offense was going to light up the world;

    (b) The Ráidiêr defense was ready to lead the league (followed immediately thereafter with how the Ráidiêr defense was youthful, exciting, and on the rise; and, finally, my personal favorite,

    (c) Al Davis proves his genius again (perhaps by hiring a window-washing hobo as your offensive coordinator. Or, maybe by getting turned down by Bobby Petrino, not once, but THREE [IMG] times).

And so here we are, Jeaux. You're here to tell us how we should be patient in rebuilding, because of your vast experience in watching your own team - which is FINALLY there. And although OUR 4-12 team beat YOUR 4-12 team handily last year, your team has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the last six months. NOW you're ready to begin the New Ráidiêr Dynasty (As in: "This is the year Fink beats The Stomach!").

So pay no attention to the last three [IMG] years of miserably failing predictions. Pay no attention to threads entitled: "Look whosis deefanse is #1ne in pre-seasin." Put it all out of your mind, folks! Raiderjeaux has been to the mountain, and he brings us the truth.

Now if you can only find a nice stool softener for Crazy Al Davis. There's work to be done, Jeaux. Off with you!

Unlike you , I will read what you wrote and respond to it(not go off on a tangent)
LIsten I will say it a million times, I was happy with performance the young defense did last year. Due to injuries, Sam Williams(OLB with coverage ability-lost in preseason) and two most experienced secondary players(C woodson and D Gibson lost for season after fifth game) TEs and RBs were doing most damage against raiders defense. FAct. NOw to compensate for not having any LBs that could cover , it forced Raiders to play a big nickel defense to match up to TEs and RB. FACT When you playing DBs instead of LBs your more suspectible to be run on. FACT
THats what happened. You want to dispute it than it shouldn't be hard proving me wrong.
Now SIR, DId Raiders not upgrade their team speed at LB and their coverage ability. ( Thomas Howard, Return health of Sam Williams, Darnel Bing, and Robert Thomas) Fact or FIction.

NOw drafting OF M Huff- drafting of impact player like huff, can play anywhere in secondarty and gives Raiders a unique player- a safety with CB cover ability . Fact or Fiction.

Did Raiders have sack leader D Burgess?. Fact or Fiction
BY bringing in pass rushing speciast Lance Johnstone to complement Burgess, is not going to make a diffrence. Fact or Fiction.

YEs looking at ages of my starting lineup on offense and defense. You better believe Im excited about defense. NOt a question of IF, but when these young players come together. These young players aren't going anywhere. Thats summary.

    a. Now Let me examine your Points- A Raiders offense was going to light it up. With the offense firepower Raiders had , there is no excuse why they didn't. Thats why NOrv turner out of work. Don't be supprised if thats the case this year. Oline in better shape and Raiders have a mobile QB to put extreme pressure on defense.(what worked last year against immobile Qb won't work this year) (even though Im not big believer in OC)
Again look at ages this group. That offensive explosion going to happen . Just question of when not if.

B Never said raiders defense was ready to lead the league. Was a joke post made during preseason. What I said Raiders offense would be so potent that the defense would be good enough. (Raider fan can concur because that was our position) Raiders didn't lose last season becauise of defense(they played well enough) Offense was the real reason.

    C. Your full of it because I never was a big supporter of OC Tom Walsh. schoop will have big hand in offensive play calling and I didn't like Job he did in Chicago. Only person that AL wanted that turned him down was B Petrino- Fact You falsely try to say Whitenshint turned Raiders down. again show me one article where It said raiders offered Whitenshunt the job.

The only per4on who full of it is you sunday jack. Go off on some tangent or try and disapprove what i wrote.

All you have to know is that Aaron Brooks is the qb of the Raiders and for that reason alone they will suck yet again.
