The Jets defense looked far better than it has all season today. It's no coincidence that 24 is finally 100%. Sure the stats don't show us as a top defense, but if they continue to play like they did today we'll win most games.

The Packers defense just looked better and our offense played like shit.

You just named 2 4-3 ends and an OLB. Those are not "pass rushers" on the line. They get plenty of sacks but really are you complaining about a game where the D did not let a top 5 QB throw a single TD? The Packers were in 3rd and long all game long.

    The offense lost this game.

I like your modest response. Our D is good not average. We fought a tuff game today and definitely seemed off of our game. I underestimated GB.

My problem is that most of the blitzes are on the outside and it allows the qb to step up if the blitz gets picked up on the outside. Note our sack and hits come when we finally send a blitz up the middle which we don't do enough. D was definately not the problem today though.

People, the defense had nothing to do with why we lost. In point of fact, this was the best defensive performance of the season so far. They essentially gave up 3 points (Rememer, 3 points came directly off of the abomination known as the fake punt attempt on 4th and 18, and another 3 came in garbage time after we turned it over on downs inside our own 30 yard line)

The defense looked great today. To criticize them when the offense played like horsecock is ridiculous.

Don't compare the play of horsecock to what was shown today now.

You can quibble with how this defense gets results, but the point is it just works.

The Jets have given up 110 points over 7 games. That's 15.7 points per game. Second in the entire league.

The D simply isn't the problem.

Today they could have held the Packers to 0 and we still would've only came out with a tie.

we have bigger problems than our pass-rush, just saying. If your offense cant score at least 17 points in a game you are in trouble no matter how badass your passrush is.

Also consider the defense was on the field like 70% of the game and the Pack were given the ball in good field position SEVERAL times...9 points is pretty damn good

I think Joe should be banned from creating threads for at least a week.

No QB we faced had a completion percentage better than 59. Flacco was 52.6, Brady was 55.6, Henne had the 59, Fitz had 44.4, Favre had 41.2, Orton had 41.2 and Rodgers had 44.1. Those are really good numbers. Our defense is fine

That's a tribute to your secondary play which is GREAT! I was at the game and Rodgers really didn't have anybody open most of the day. He had plenty of time, guys just weren't open. The guys right, your ends are just a average rushing the passer. You put Clay Matthews on your defense, you'd be scary good.

bottom line: offense stunk, playcalling stunk, receivers can't catch. the jets should just waive the bye week next year.

But the D played solid which is the point of this nonsensical thread.

No he isn't correct and neither are you. Clay Mathews isn't an end. Jesus your team plays the same system and you don't know the role of a 3-4 end?

I will give you a hint, it isn't to rush the passer. If they do it is gravy. In fact, the opposite is true in regards to Ellis and Pryce. They are above average pass rushers and/or have been in their careers.

The lack of rush comes from Pace/Taylor/Thomas. Period end of discussion.

To put the blame on the defense is beyond ridiculous. While I agree that the pass-rush isn't there, the secondary has played well enough to make up for it. The DL is strong against the run and the secondary can cover well enough to make up for the fact that the pressure generated comes almost exclusively from scheme (ie overload blitzes) and not so much from talent (guys winning their one-on-one matchups).

This Jets defense is one stud pass-rusher away from being a historically amazing defense. While I agree that the team could certainly benefit from having another strong pass-rusher to compliment Pace (who I haven't been very impressed with this year) you could also make the argument that the Jets need a stud safety.

The defense is fine. The offense is the albatross holding them down now.

We have a good D. But we seem to have an imbecile calling plays. receivers that drop balls and a QB that is still making mistakes.

We haven't really gotten ourselves a pass rusher since we drafted Gholston, and he definitely can't do it. Taylor's OK, and Pace is good at times but we could do with a beast pass rusher.
