When they were bringing in backup offensive linemen to play on the DL that tells you how thin they were up front. Throw in the LT reverse they tried to run did they forget that Howard Green had probably seen it before which is why he was the guy that blew it up?
Take out the drop? Schotty hit them with a play that worked for a first down! Cotchery makes the catch like he does in any other game and it's first down and we don't need to have a discussion about what he called on 3rd and 4th down. Like I said that type of awful execution on a good play call kills any play calling rhythm Schotty had building there. If you want to talk about the third down play I'll agree that wasn't an ideal play call for that situation. The 4th down call was good and was another play that should have been made but Sanchez floated the ball a bit.
How was the running game doing for the Jets today? Not good right? And were they behind all game? That may have something to do with more passes being thrown.
Like a true leader, Sanchez is deflecting the blame off Schotty and onto himself (in the postgame presser right now). Granted, Sanchez didn't play a good game, but he was put in some pretty BAD situations because of the playcalling.
Also, while I'm not all that thrilled with the playcalling either, it's sorta hard to look smart when your team doesn't get first downs and drops catchable passes. It also doesn't help that the refs decided to give the ball over on phantom INT calls.
Playcalling wasn't the best, but there is no fucking excuse for dropped balls.. Cotch should run fucking laps in practice..
Totally agree. Given the beaten up state of the Packers D, the play calling was completely opposite of the strategy that should have been deployed. This one is on Schotty for not recognizing that.
Throw in the HB option that LT was going to throw. My biggest gripe with Shotty is how he tries getting too cute. Game 1 against the Ravens he had tons of movement before the snap that led to numerous false starts, not to mention poor execution when the play did get off. This game reminded me of that, minus the pre-snap movement. At the time Rex said they'd pare down the playbook, and the results following that were good, we'll see what they can do this week...
I understand what you are saying but the drop happened, there was nothing you can do about except get the 1st down on your next two plays and they call a 40 yard throw to the EZ instead of something that is going to put them in better position to make it on 4th if need be. The 4th became unmanageable because of the terrible call on 3rd down. Like was stated they only ran 22 times today and threw 38 in the wind and against a team that was banged up to the point that they signed one of our castoffs on Thursday to play today. They were down 3 nearly the entire game not by two TDs.
Great, he's showing he's a leader off the field...how about on it? HE PLAYED LIKE SHIT, the entire OFFENSE played like shit, the receivers today were scandalous but some of those drops were a result of Sanchez missing his mark. I understand he is young but his inconsistency is killing us.
This was just a terrible offensive performance, basically by everyone. You know your offense was bad when your Qb gave up two picks that could have been called either way. Play calling sucked, we couldnt run the ball, we couldnt catch the ball, and we took penalties epic offensive fail
next person to complain about the 1st down QB sneak should shoot himself in the face. It was obvious what Mark was thinking and theres no way he does that to try and gain yardage.
Remember this feeling Jets fans If Rex does not take charge of the offense or turn it over to Callahan soon we may end the playoffs with the same feeling. Shottenheimer should have been fired the last three years and we keep bringing him back. It is not going to help us if we lose in the playoffs because of him and then we know he is going to be fired after it because you don't have too many opportunities to win it all. Let's face it, in the AFC Championship last year we lost when he got conservative. It was obvious we could pass on the Colts but after the bomb to Edwards we never tried it again even after Greene when down. Shottenheimer stayed stubborn and kept runnning Thomas Jones who looked like he we running in quicksand. I pray that I am wrong but I have a feeling if Rex does not do anything about it this guy will leave us with the same feeling we have today. It is in his DNA and his father did the same thing over and over. Part of being in a leadership is position is that you have to make tough decisions. Rex, now is that moment for you.
Dude, what the fuck are you doing, you've made three threads in 45 minutes basically stating the same shit, GTFO of here!!
Good point. Along those lines, the stretch runs and trick runs (reverses etc) were called way too much today. GB had like 2 DL on the field at times with 4-5 LBs at times. I think running outside played to what little strength they had. Should've pounded the ball right between the tackles, wear that Dline out, force them to play more guys on the line, take out some of those LBs or CBs then pass the ball.
[ QUOTE=jets12;1903196]Rex, fix it now and get this clown out of town and bring in Mike Leach or promote Callahan. The offense is so predictable that it is a joke. Same story every year with this guy but we leave him in to ruin our season. Why even have Edwards and Holmes if you are not going to use them. Coachery has regressed tremendously and Holmes deserves to be in every down.[/QUOTE] OK, now ur a pain in the ass.
