After the huge play to Keller what on earth was the offensive philosophy? You wasted your 1st down with a QB sneak, you then have Cotch drop a 1st down and the 3rd and 4th down play calls were awful. You had 3 plays to gain 8 yards and not one run play? I'm not alone in my thoughts but you would think after 4 years Schott would understand that you don't need to out think yourself. If this team is ever going to take the next step forward the guy calling the plays needs to not shit the bed in big spots. Maybe it's just me but this offense has been completely out of sync since Holmes came back from suspension. We were lucky in Vikings and Denver games which we deserved but were still lucky but our lukc ran out today against a team we should have beaten by 3 TDs with the way the D played..... the only word I can come up with is DISGUSTING
i cannot blame schotty for this game. impossible. not every play he calls will be liked, but his players are expected to catch balls. shonn greene dropping a simple catch, and run. cotchery all day. holmes disgusted. dropping a 10yard pass that should of been a 6 pointer.
Sorry but even the permanent Schotty haters can't really just pin this one on him. There's only so much you can do about absolutely miserable execution. Rex had more fuck-ups today than Schotty.
I just checked that play on my DVR and noticed that the referee didn't whistle after Keller got down either, which was probably the initial reason that got them thinking that the play was one GB could challenge.
Of all the people to blame, lets blame Schotty...Hahaha...Christ do some of you guys even understand football?
Playcalling wasn't great, but guys were getting open in the 2nd half and they were just dropping balls left & right. That QB sneak was ran, I think, to prevent GB from challenging the prior play (Sanchez might've been across the line of scrimmage when he threw to Keller). I don't think he wanted to waste time waiting for a play to come in, so he ran the sneak.
The Shotty haters are so fuckin retarded. It is just soooo obvious that this game isnt on Shotty. As a matter of fact, even if you could only blame coaches today, Shotty wouldnt be the first one to blame
Running game might have worked but it was never that impressive today. I don't see how you blame the play calling when you have Cotchery drop a first down pass on second down. Those drops take a play caller out of their rhythm just as much as a bad call can take players out of their rhythm.
That's possible on that play and something I didn't think of because at least based on the Fox angle it was clear he wasn't but on the initial play it also looked like Weatherford had the 1st on the fake.
So calling 38 passes against 16 carries for LT and 6 for Greene vs a bad run defense with a banged up front 7 is a good understanding of football? yes there were a ton of dropped passes.. but there shouldn't have been that many passes thrown under any circumstances today.
Even if you take the drop out you have 2 downs to gain 8 yards. I thought Greene was starting to gain a rhythm late in the game but even if you don't run the ball on 3rd down you decide to throw the ball 40 yards down field? Why nothing that at least makes the 4th down more manageable.
Absolutely stupid decision to quick QB draw that...He was well within the LOS. That was a key point for the game because the Jets had 1 timeout and have no idea what the hell they were looking at. There was little to review on that play...Really pissed me off
This is a game we could have won with "ground and pound". Instead, Schotty was calling double reverses and QB sneaks on 1st and 10 and pass plays on 2nd and short. I don't blame him for the loss, but come on..
yup and we threw the ball more times (38) than the Packers (34) and we also ran the ball less times than the Packers (23) to our (22). We are a fucking running hard nose defense team; I just dont know if our coaching staff knows this? FUck schotty it is his fault )partially) that we lost this game. We should carry the rock 30-35 times a game and pass 15-20; end of story!
I'm not sure why they didn't try to establish the run more in the 1st half. Wear down a D that was short on subs.
I'm pretty sure that was the case. I was calling for them to hurry it up too, so I can't really complain with that one.
Anybody who doesn't have a problem with the playcalling and run-pass ratio today is blind. Schottenheimer doesn't allow the offense to get into a groove. You're facing a bad run defense with a banged up front 7 and you call 38 passes and 22 combined runs by LT and Greene. You're doing pitches to your RB with a WR reverse. You're calling passes by LT. It's ridiculous. The game was within 3 points almost the entire way through and Shotty is acting like they're down 20 and have to fling the ball down field. Pound the freaking ball. Then pound it some more. Let the run game and defense win the game for you.
