Agreed, I personally think he played great last week against Denver. He never really got beat once and was always in good position. Orton made some unbelievable throws, one of which went right through Revis' hands. That's not something that would have changed with him being 100% or not, he just got unlucky. Now having another 2 weeks to rest and practice I think he'll be back in midseason form.
It's not that Revis can't cover Jennings. He clearly can. It's that Cromartie can't cover Driver as well as he can cover Jennings. And for that reason, he should be on Jennings and Revis should be on Driver.
Both Driver and Brandon Lloyd (who Cro covered extremely well last week and is younger and more explosive) are listed at 6'0 194lbs. I don't see the issue. Driver is actually taller than Jennings.
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'll believe Revis has returned to 2009 form when I see it. I hope he is indeed back to regular form. I think we shouldn't be so quick to assume he will shut down anyone, especially any quick WR with good route-running skills. He's still a great CB, but I just don't see him as being back to shutdown status just yet. The Jets staff knows way more than any of us about this, they'll get it right.
alot of our fans are fucking spoiled and do not realize what Revis did last year was beyond insane. then they think this is the way Revis will be for the rest of his career. also Cro has been shutdown this year and everyone thinks he cant cover a receiver not running a go route. Revis is healthy I question him being in game shape. that DEN game was a huge step up though
Couldnt agree more Coach K. My take on this whole thing is that I think Revis feels a little embarrassed personally. I think with such lofty expectations we and he puts on himself, that allowing 3 TDs so far makes him more than angry, especially him knowing that he wasnt 100% healthy. Add that to the negative pub from the contract mess and his desire to remain number 1, I think he actually will get back close to last years form. I can see him working that much harder, studying that much more film to prove people wrong. I just remember reading an article I think in his second year saying how mad he used to get when J Co would catch a pass on him in practice, that he couldnt let it go. I can't see that changing. Just looking at hin on the bench after the TD v. Denver I just felt a sense of embarrassment and anger.....maybe I am seeing more than what was there cause I want to but.... I think by the end of this year, this whole thing will end up being a HUGE blessing. We were still able to be 5-1 basically without him and Cro and Coleman have not only gotten valuable reps, but more importantly when it comes to sports, they have SO MUCH more confidence now that will help them 1) prepare better and 2) play naturally without thinking and trusting their skills.
Driver has been injured and hasn't been much of a factor lately.. I'm sure we will see Revis and Cro both get some time covering Jennings.
It's not about height, it's about skillset. Lloyd isn't exactly a dominant deep threat, but he's the best Denver has. Jennings is a very good deep receiver, which is why he should be on him.
You are 100% correct. Driver will be used as a decoy mostly in this game. Cro would better be served taking Jones who will be where Rodgers will go in this game. Him and Quarless will get a lot of balls thrown there way. And don't fall asleep on Jordy Nelson, kid has top end speed, just ask DRC of Arizona.
Antonio Cromartie 10/27/2010 06:40 PM ET I'm glad to have my boy @revis24 back to full strength now this tandem we talked abt can take over. And our front 7 can go get the QB
