Total mail it in move, leaving it up to a guy who's shown nothing that says "I'm an NFL quarterback" to date. I think Carr gave them a legitimate shot to win. He didn't play great, but I think a week of prep as the starter would have made him much better.

I thought Troy Smith looked pretty good in the limited playing time I saw him in. Singletary is probably coaching for his job right now, I doubt he's mailing anything in.

I agree with this. But for Flacco, Smith would probably be starting in Baltimore right now. Not saying he'll become a pro bowl player, but I think he actually gives them the same, if not slightly better chance of winning than Carr.

Disagree. Carr is much better than he is given credit for. People just look at his stats in Houston and go "derp derp he sux".

do you forget how the only reason Flacco ended up starting his rookie year was cause Smith got hospitalized?

fuck carr, fuck alex smith, theyre both career backups. Troy Smith has had a fraction of the time to prove himself that the previous two have had proving theyll never be starters.

besdies Singletary is probably gone so as previously mentioned hes coaching for his job at this point and is seeing what he has.

Carr is much better than given credit for but he also didnt shine when he moved away from HOU horrible OL. ironic that they found one in time for Schaub lol

I actually completely forgot about him, so many recent Heisman winners have faded away into obscurity.

Palmer won in 02 and is having a good career but nothing spectacular, I'd say you'd have to go back to 97 when Charles Woodson won to see the player that really fulfilled expectations.

if Ricky Williams never ended up having his nutcase social anxiety let me go do yoga in a tent phase he couldve been a solid top 10 RB in the league far longer than the 3 to 4 breakout yrs he had.

i actually went to school with a cousin of his. i was friends with her and shed always draw on her folders or binders. one day she brought one in with a shit ton of pictures. shes like and this is me at my cousins house. I was like wtf your cousin is r i c k y williams?

it was actually that house he had on cribs back when he was a saint i believe.

He was gonna start over Flacco before he had got that weird virus or whatever a few years ago. I was always intrigued by his skill set and I'll be interested in seeing how he plays.

I don't know, I didn't like him with the Giants either. I think Carr has always had the "look" of a good QB, if that makes any sense, but he's never actually been one. IMHO.

Either way, will be interesting to see what Smith does now that he finally has his chance to shine.

He did damn fine when filling in for Eli in NYG.

Houston also made several improvements to their OL before Schuab took over, so it's not exactly like they played behind the same line.

I'm not saying Smith is going to be horrible, but he was #3 for a reason. Singletary is trying to "shake things up". Whatever, he can do that. But if Smith is such a good QB, why was he a 3rd stringer in the first place?

Carr has PTSD after getting sacked 76 times his rookie year, I think that ruined him.

Agreed, Carr was a great QB coming out of college and he actually performed admirably given the OL of Houston. Then after a few years of just getting pounded with piss poor protection his will just got pounded out of him. A really good coach might be able to resurrect him like Parcells did with Testaverde.

If Sanchez was sacked as much as Carr Sanchez would be a basket case too. Tip to the #1 draft pick coming out of college - don't sign with a goddamn expansion team its first year out.
