I think the Miami game went a long way in terms of confidence building. And for these guys (meaning, professional football players, not just the Patriots) so much of it is about confidence.

I realize there are no big names back there... no Revis, no Cromartie, etc. But when the Patriots were at their peak earlier in the decade, they were winning with schemes and gameplans as much as talent. My hope is that Belichick has the "right" guys now - not necessarily the most talented - to get the job done. You're talking about a team that won a Super Bowl with Randall Gay starting and Earthwind Moreland playing a significant role in the defensive backfield. I realize things are different now and you can't look at the past as a given in the future, but I think they can go pretty far with what they have right now.

You're 100% right in that Sunday will be a HUGE test. Despite the Chargers' struggles, Rivers is lighting up defenses, especially at home. I guess we'll find out.

Speaking of which, Peter King has us third. I've never brought much into the Peter King hates the Jets talk, but that ranking, with the Steelers and Ravens 1 and 2 in front of us, made me start to understand it more.

That Steelers defense choked completely against the Ravens, ours has yet to choke.

Well to be fair, King picked the Steelers to win the Superbowl in August, so it's almost impossible for him to back them out of the top slot.

I don't think it was the Steelers he was referring to. It was the two loss birds.

Meh. You can argue any of the three and not look like an idiot if you ask me.

Top three set in stone is good enough for me for now.

He's a Ravens homer. Lives in Baltimore and used to cover the team.

    sorry have to bump this.

as for your defense, didn't do so well when Rivers was in shotgun and just focused on passing. Unfortunately the Chargers decided to get cute with their run game. Couple of lucky breaks along the Pats way, and Kris Benson as the Chargers kicker, well you know the rest.

I still wasn't very impressed from what i saw from the Pats D.
