I can't believe anyone would want to buy that! maybe its just because I'm a wimpy Englishman :steelers:
Well if the money from the sale of those pics goes to the same charities that the money from the fines go to then it's not so bad.
That website is contracted by the NFL and probably pays a portion of each sold to the NFL. They probably have the rights to sell any NFL photo and the league can't stop them.
I'm sure they could. If you had a license with the NFL to sell their photos and they told you not to sell certain photos you would stop. Either that or they would revoke their license one way or another and you'd lose that revenue. Watch all the highlights they show before games. I'm sure we'll see a bunch of big hits.
mortreport Chris Mortensen NFL said it takes responsibility for sale of Harrison/Meriwether photos. Outside vendor but photos are purchased from NFL official site.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5706132 Here's the link.....looks like you started a movement Gus. Looks like the NFL will not be selling these types of photos anymore.
Go to the NFL Shop and you can buy this: http://www.nflshop.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2974245&cp=2423043.2418395&pageType=family&parentPage=family Customer Review: Bone Snapping By Football Afiçion from Morgantown, WV on 10/17/2008 I love this DVD. I love crushing hits. The NFL Films should put out a DVD of Mean Joe's hits. That would be a DVD to buy. Of course if Mean Joe played today well he would owe the NFL for the privilege because his fines would be so out of this world. Mean Joe was a football player.
NFL regrets photo 'mistake', will stop selling photos of illegal plays. Same link but now the story seems to have changed. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5706132
Hopefully the NFL can get away from all this violent media they're producing and get into selling videos of team prayers narrated by Tony Dungy.
I don't think it's hypocrisy, the hits happened in the game and people want pictures of what happened. It's not like there's a giant banner on the poster that says somehting like: OUCH! THAT'S GOT TO HURT!
no licensing of manufacturing deal provides the licensee or manufacturer carte blanche. all products for sale must be approved by the NFL, they don't give any entity the ability to determine what goes on the market without approval. that's ridiculous that you would believe the NFL would actually enter into such an agreement where it would give a third party absolute rights to the market without approval.
It's the definition of hypocrisy. You can't stand up against one issue and then advertise it to turn a profit.
