Steelers still #1, with the pats nippin at our heels again.

That's exactly how I'd rank 'em this week. Steeler's defense is just sick. We have the talent to play at that level, and as the season goes on I think we'll begin to. Getting Revis back at 100% will be the biggest factor.

The Steelers defense is a little overrated. They play a bend but dont break style. Colt McCoy lit them up for almost 300 yards. A few breaks that go Clevelands way, they have a shot at making that a close game. They are about on par with the Jets defense. Good, but not "great" by any means.

Still slightly better than ours at this point, we've had trouble stopping Chad Henne and Denver's running game. But I have no doubt that one Revis gets to 100%, ours will be better.

We'll see when they all come out, but so far it's pretty telling that nobody in the NFC makes the Top-5 let alone the Top-3.

I'd like to know how La Canfora has the 4-2 Ravens ranked #1.

The Pats are overrated. They'll get lit up by a great passing team again this weekend, mark my words.

For sure the Steeler game will be moved to prime time. That should be our biggest game of the regular season if everything stays as it is.

The Ravens might be the best team in the NFL still. Makes sense to me. 20-10 lead in NE. DOMINATING DEFENSE. If they hold on they are 5-1 and clearly #1. They blew it, played bad in OT. I don't mind them at #1 in someone's ranking.

They barely beat the Steelers with their 3rd string QB.

You guys don't find the rankings rather inconsequential? I didn't figure this board to be the kind of place that gives much credence to these things, good or bad.

And the Ravens lost to Cincinnati, who sucks, and, against the Browns, they had to come from behind at home in the 4th quarter. Not as impressive as Pitt for sure.

It's a message board, message board members look for topics of conversation. These rankings happen to be one, period.

Actually most of us find them extremely inconsequential, but it's the bye week and we don't sniff the #1 neighborhood too often so it's a little hard to ignore.

Haha I was just explaining how they could be ranked #1. I would not rank them at #1, but that is how I could see someone else thinking.

In the end rankings are meaningless but what else is there to talk about during a bye week?

    Apparently this is how.

Jason La Canfora covered sports for the Washington Post for 10 years, including five seasons on the Redskins beat. He worked previously at the Detroit Free Press and Baltimore Sun. In addition to blogging and writing for NFL.com, he appears on NFL Network shows including Total Access and NFL GameDay.
