But not everyone is willing to do it. If Clowney had been willing to do more than punt return coverage, he'd still be on the team.

Not sure I agree. If he was an undrafted FA, he probably would not have made the final cut in his rookie camp. Probably would have been practice squad material at best. Not exactly a "coup" for Tannenbaum. Jamaal Westerman who was an undrafted FA has produced more up to this point.

Wow what would we do without stats to tell us he is a bust? What a find.

OK...I agree he hasn't done anything of any significance on the field. I would never try to say he has. It wouldn't be truthful.

The proper time for me to act is at the end of this season. There is no reason to act now because as we already talked about...there is no one else out there at this moment who provides considerably more value than he does. His role is basically to step in there (mostly on passing downs) and try to make a play on the QB or collapse the pocket. He also is there to occupy blockers and give our starters a breath from time to time. He also will play some special teams. It is very simple, and he does his job. Is he outstanding at it? No. Is he being asked to be? No. He just does what is asked in that minor role, and he's doing fine.

Also, let us be real. He has only been in the league 2 and a half years. He hasn't been on the roster for 5-6 years here. But, are you seriously going to tell me role players like him don't hang around on NFL rosters? Are we watching the same league? They might not have been picked number 6 overall in the draft, but there are definitely guys with his role and skill-sets who continue to hang around the NFL for 6-7 year bouncing from team to team if need be.

Gholston is certainly overpaid for what he produces so he'll be cut unless he can step up this season. But I don't think Gholston is that bad. Sure he missed Favre on Monday night but he still put enough pressure on him so that Favre missed the 2 points.

How far down the list of things to be negative about did we have to go to reach this thread? Why can people not just be happy when things are going well?

Gholston is doing the job they are asking him to do and he's doing it well. You don't win games with passengers in this league.

I still really wish he and Chris Long switched spots a couple years ago.

I think they'd both be much more successful.

He's a bust, but who cares, we're winning.

if he's on the team next year and ellis is not i'll be pissed. i hope with his restructured contract he can be cut without leaving a lot of dead money on the cap. we need that money to resign our guys harris, ellis, cro, holmes, and edwards.

So when is enough of him enough? I think we have already paid him all his guarantees. Can we trade him for a 7th rounder by today's deadline? Maybe just cut him and sign somebody off the practice squad.

Who can we get who's going to be so much better than him without having learnt the playbook?

You're right...I thought this had just started 2 days ago when I saw the last post. didn't realize it went back two years. I guess he was a bust way back then too..who woulda thunk?

And as far as that goes, he hasn't had a tackle since week 3 and he still hasn't had a sack in his career so I would guess any blind beggar off the street would be just as good even if they couldn't read the playbook and they would cost us about 4 bucks a game.
