I heard on Mike and Mike that those pink striped balls were horrible and slick. Combine that with the rain and that may have had something to do with the high passes or some of them at least.
A trap game is used to describe a upcoming hazardous game, most often happens when a good team beats another good team and then subsequently has to play a mediocre team. The good team is often emotionally spent and overlooks the mediocre team , hence the trap. 1. We are not spent after Monday night, we could have easily been up 24-0 at the half. Our running backs are fresh. 2. Again, Denver has the 2nd most potent passing attack in the NFL, this does not fall under the mediocre category. 3. Denver just got destroyed by a team that is almost a mirror image of our team, except we have the mastermind of the Ravens defense with us now. Rex will pick that film apart and use it to our full advantage. A trap game can also occur when a good team has to play a bad team 1 week and a good team the following week. The good team overlooks their next opponent and concentrates their efforts on the better team. 1. We have a bye week after Denver, and will put all our efforts into kicking their ass. 2. See above So by definition, this is not a trap game, especially considering we have a bye week after this game.
+1 on everything except the bolded part. I still think the Ravens have better position players than the Jets. W/o Jenks, Ngata is a Manimal and their DLine out performs ours. We definitely have better corners but we are down our thoroughbred with a bum wheel. Otherwise excellent post.
Yeah this is a really weird match-up. Denver's got a top passing game and nothing else. We have the top run game and they have no run D. No idea what the score will be, but I predict we have 43 minutes T.O.P.
The funny part is, this was a team that used to discard #1 RBs aside cause they had another All-Pro RB waiting on the bench. My recall is off and I'm too lazy to look up but didn't they have kick ass RBs in Mike Anderson and 2 guys named Bell? (Mike & Tatum???)
Yeah, I'd take our healthy secondary over their's but they do have a better front 7. Ours is not to shabby, we've done great against the run and have been getting to the QB faster. I can't wait to face off against the Bears offensive line.
Broncos are second in passing because they cannot run for shit. That and they get alot of late game stats padded like last week when trailing.
What is it with teams playing the Jets anyway? dolphins with orange.... Now the broncos are having a "Orange Day" for the Jets game, with the team and fans all dressed in orange? Are you serious? It's "wear a special color day"?
Like WSW said, our running game is gonna be the key to our success this game. I am really worried that our blitzes have been getting picked up successfully lately, thus generating no real pass rush. We could drop 7, but if Orton has all day, he will pick us apart. This game does worry me some.
This is not a trap game. A trap game is a game you absolutely should win. East coast team on a short week on the west coast? I don't care if we were playing the Raiders or Chiefs - this game is going to be very tough.
After the Buffalo massacre, I don't believe in traps anymore. I only believe in outmatched or outplayed. I'm confident in every matchup in this game with the exception of our passing defense against their passing offense. Orton throws a lot of passes and I wasn't too thrilled with our second half performance against Favre. I hear suggestions of just running the ball and keeping Orton's playing time limited, but isn't pure ground and pound what lost us the game against Baltimore? Against Denver's thin secondary/lack of pass rushing, I say let Sir Sanchez play!
Handcuffing our QB and over coaching cost us the Baltimore game. Oh and they're pretty good. The Denver run D is not on the same planet as Baltimore. run, run, run, run, oh hell even give McNight a carry or two.
I wouldn't think that we would have much trouble with blitzes this game because the Denver o-line has been struggling mightily. J.D. Walton is fucking terrible. He cannot keep opposing linemen out of Orton's face, and gets shoved back into Orton on pass-blocking all the time. RT Zane beadles is boom or bust on the edge, because against the Jag's pass rush he got his ass-kicked, but managed to hold his ground against the Seahawks (though that's not saying much, especially because he didn't have to face Chris Clemons). Clady is just not good this season. He can't pass protect, and in one game this season (I forget which one), he let through a sack and like, 8 pressures. The only redeeming Broncos' lineman is Stanley Daniels. He is the only guy on that line that can protect Orton. He's not gonna be matched up vs. Shaun Ellis though.
yep. but that was a product of their focus on small, quick offensive lineman who could run the zone blocking scheme effectively. all shanahan's doing. that team's identity has done a complete 180 since McDaniels took over. I gotta say though, its hard to believe McDaniels is part of Belicheat's regime. At first with the jay cutler thing and how he handled it, yeah...but overall he's way more personable and high energy. i like him as a coach. he just doesn't have the players yet.
I agree with the notion that the trap game is non existent. This team will not loaf through any games this year. That doesn't mean they won't make mistakes or have bad games. They're human and being consistent every single week in this league is very difficult. but if that happens, it's not for a lack of underestimating the opponent. shit happens although i know if we were to lose a game that way everyone would be screaming trap game
Thanks for the info. I haven't seen any Broncos games this year, so I'll take your word for. I have to assume that the Broncos are aware of their OL situation and the receivers are being smart with their routes, depending on what the defense gives them. So guys like Royal and Gaffney will be tough to deal with this game. It's known league-wide that the Broncos are one-dimensional, and they're still 4th in total offense. So they can certainly move up and down the field.
It's nice to follow Baltimore - they beat the crap out of Denver last week. If a team has played the ravens I bet the film crew focuses harder on those games in game planning.
