They should make him learn more of the O from a QB point-of-view... this way he would be WAY more dangerous in the wild-cat. Plus I still think he should be our #3 QB after this year... with a young guy on the PS for training purposes...
It's great that the coaching staff is able to figure out ways to let him thrive by using his versatility. You just know on some teams, he wouldn't be a typical prototype positional player and thus, wouldn't play.
I loved how patient he was yesterday, on the run where he didnt really get any yards, maybe 2? but he didnt lose any on what looked to me like a botched play. And then the patience he had on the TD pass. Very in control.
That was a really good throw. Given that Keller was open, the throw had to go over a few defenders before it could reach Keller, and Smith put it where only Keller could catch the ball. Glad to see he can be clutch when needed.
great player to have on this team. special teams contributions are really overlooked. its really only a matter of time before he runs one back on a kickoff this year. also, i love how he calls the play on punts. again only a matter of time before we catch a team off guard with a fake punt - knowing that he has the ability to throw or run is awesome too. he is fun to watch.
Brad Smith is the NFL's most interesting player. He once failed to pick up a first down just to see what it felt like.
love for brad smith...he is nearly never a detriment. leon washington was similar when he started. just a very slick game-changer when used right. i wonder how brad would do with even more exposure.
The Jets had been using Smith to take the direct snap well before the Dolphins ran the wildcat. The Jets never beat the Patriots using only that formation so nobody took much notice of it.
Brad Smith is fast becoming my favorite player on the roster, if he isn't already. He's quiet, unassuming, but an assassin. Here's an exerpt from a recent Cimini blog. In Westhoff we trust: JOKE TIME: Speaking of Brad Smith, Westhoff had the line of the day about the Jets Mr. do-it-all. Said Westhoff: “Brad leaves, I’m leaving.” Westhoff added that Brad Smith allows the team to do to a lot of things, and any time he has a football in his hands, he’s a dangerous weapon. He also praised him as a return man.
I still remember how I hated B. and E. Smith and how much they contribute to this Jets team in many phases of the game... so glad I was wrong about those guys Hope next off-season they're signed to long contracts!
Dude Sanchez looked open on the TD to Keller, but he'd have to throw back across his body. Sanchez has amazing hands, he'd catch the ball.
yep. I'd love to see LT or Smith throw him a pass and have him run it in. I know Brees has one, I think. And it was when he was with LT.
yea ur right, i remember hearing a comentator say that during a game. sidenote: that play was LT's first completion of his career
I had an opportunity to buy a Brad Smith jersey last year for 30 bucks , but I didn't. That decision still haunts me until this day.
