You can't be serious about your expectations? right now he is thinking his way through the plays and not playing instinctively, he does not even know the tendency of the receivers he is playing against, once he gets comfortable he will make better plays but for now he needs a little help.
It would be nice if just once he watched the receivers eyes and realized the ball is coming. A plus is once he does put it altogether he seems to be in a very good position on many plays to go after the ball. Another plus is he's great covering the slot, which is our exact need when Revis is back.
I re-watched the game earlier and focused on him every time the D was on the field, he did absolutely NOTHING that made me feel that he was worth getting picked in the 1st round. Only time he looked good was when he was matched up against the TE He got lucky we weren't playing a better QB or he would have gotten torched even worse There was a play where Hartline beat him easily for a TD, but Henne rushed his pass to Marshall and didn't see him. There were few other plays were he got beat, but luckily for us Henne didn't see the receiver. There was a play on the last drive, near the endzone, where he got away with an obvious hold(he was pretty much hugging the receiver) This guy scares the shit out of me. You know you suck, when Drew Coleman outplays you I hope it's just a rookie thing and he gets better as the season goes on. But right now, i have ZERO confidence in him
Yeah Rex even brought up the communication issues in his press conference today. Don't worry the true fans that know anything about football still 100% believe in your brother. ...and soon the rest will too.
The hate by some of a rookie Cornerback in his 3rd NFL game is ridiculous. As a rookie, CB is probably one of the most difficult positions to learn and succeed. There will be growing pains, but Wilson has all the talent to be an excellent CB. If I was the Offensive Coordinator of a team facing the Jet's defense, you bet your ass I'd throw at a rookie. Kyle will continue to get better.....people need to backoff. I challenge anyone to name a Rookie CB that didn't have growing pains...even Revis had a few bumps and it took till his 3rd year to become an elite player.
YUP. It's the same exact thing with Slausson. You're average fan or chick catching a game would see a few busted plays on his side and say GET DUCASSE IN THERE!!!!!! GET COLEMAN IN FOR WILSON!!!!! THESE GUYS SUCK!!%#%$@%^!!! 111111 Understand, like Rex said, Teams are putting their best players over Slausson.... Teams are attacking Wilson....Part of both player's small setbacks has been Communication. Wilson also suffers from QB's having all day in the pocket without Jenks/Pace. If Slauson and Wilson were lights out the Jets would be the best team on the planet - Given our weak spots are young Studs growing every week We're among the lucky teams - most teams weak spots are filled with retread hold the fort duds.... One of the best things about watching football is watching talent blossom... ENJOY IT!! Get Revis back, working with Pool and Pace on the rush and Wilson will fill his role just nicely.
Not to mention that Rex probably asks more out of his CBs than any other coach. (...and Revis was pretty damn good his 2nd year, just not the best)
Like I said. He met my expectations, because I know what to expect from a rookie. Its all relevant because his A game would put him on par with top corners in the league. He is not going to exhibit that because its his 3rd game and the pace is still slowing down for him.
Week 4, 2007: The New York Jets lose a close game in Buffalo, NY because rising young stud Trent Edwards beats the very green Darrelle Revis like a drum. Revis allows over a dozen receptions to his respective receivers.
No doubt. The Jets run alot of 2/3 man fronts at times. Revis was very good, not elite year 2. Revis first year had a few hiccups, but you could see his potential. Will Wilson be the next Revis??? Doubtful, but he should be a very good #2 CB. Revis has set the bar so high we expect our other CBs to be perfect. I'm just saying..."give the Kid a break".
That is an excellent point. If only you could inject that nugget of truth straight in to the brain of some of people even though they would still not get it. I am not a football guru by any stretch of the imagination but I know you have to give people time (especially three new player playing together for the first time) to form chemistry. Thank the good lord that some of you guys know your football but can't say the same for some of the posters on TGG.
Im not trying to be a dick but lets pretend for a second Wilson does end up becoming a bust, do you guys think that would be a huge loss if a guy lets say "Drew Coleman" finally grew a pair of balls and started playing like a monster, because I think that could be a possibility. From what ive seen from coleman this year, he is playing physical and making some big time plays. Maybe he was a diamond in the ruff and just needed a year under Rex to figure it out and thats why the coaching staff is keeping him around. Drew has always underachieved but also always plays hard. I think he has matured mentally and physically and I think this kid could be the real deal.
I read that post out loud and my dogs Jet and Titan Both did a double face-palm. Btw (Titan of NY) full name.
I know you guys hate him, but what if he just needed time to develope. Lets say this guy gets so good, we start using him over wilson, would you like him then?
