Exactly, not to mention that we are not going to be able to retain everybody next year. If the jets are looking to go all in this year, which I honestly think is our best shot, this offer should be seriously considered
Have you guys not been watching Haynesworth since he went to DC? Even before that. He is not someone who will play like a Jet.
If haynesworth is put in the right situation, he can be one of the best defensive linemen in the league. The dude is tremendous and plays nasty. He is not happy in Washington and would benefit greatly from a change in atmosphere. If we add Haynesworth, we would be able to get so much more pressure on the QB's and Cromartie wont look like a fool out there as much.
The #1 reason he is being a **** in Washington is because he doesn't want to play in the 3-4. Why would he want to in New York?
Rex would not only use him at NT. Haynesworth would be used all over the defensive line. Also, Rex uses alot of the 4-3.
no no no no no don't make this move. too much of a distraction/chemistry killer. our line is fine as long as BT and Taylor keep playing the way they do. Once Pace comes back, we'll start getting to the QB more.
Are you that concerned with Pouha, or you want him at the end spot? I have a feeling the Jets didn't lose Pitoitua they would be better. Unfortunately if they have to resort to blowing more picks it would suck.
No they won't. Use the same historical scenario from last year for evidence... The team was middle of the pack, literally, in sacks last year. Pace got 8.0 sacks in 12 games which seems good but he returned after 4 weeks from a suspension not an injury...who knows what condition he will be in for Week 5 this year.
I wouldn't be totally against this move but I am not hoping we do it. This guy is a proven turd that plays when he wants to. Rex is a good coach, but he's no magical. We did fine without Jenkins last year. That said, his talent is undeniable and he would certainly add pressure to opposing o-lines. I'm much more worried about our offense than our defense.
Jason Taylor will add a lot this year, from what I've seen so far. With Taylor and Pace coming off the edges, I think our sack total will improve, especially if Bryan Thomas continues to play like a beast.
I'm not so sure. I didn't see a whole heck of a lot of pressure from Taylor on passing downs on Monday night. He did get penetration on some short-yardage running plays, which is nice, but it's not what we brought him in for.
Alot of us keep saying Albert doesnt want to play NT in a 3-4(Myself included) BUT Rex has a wild history of using players in other positions. He's lined up Adalius Thomas as a friggin corner in a few games. Using Albert as a 3/4 DE, NT, and as a DT/DE(whichever) in a 4 man front packedge would be pretty cool. We even saw Kris Jenkins last year lined up as an inside linebacker, and just bull rush the center. Who knows Albert could have some fun here, but I dont know if this is worth the gamble.
Haynesworth is our only hope at a super bowl. Otherwise I think we're 9-7. I say roll the dice and see what he brings.
A part of me wants to believe that all the bad news about Albert this offseason was just a personal vendetta launched by coach Shannahan trying to bring a message to the skins. And I want to believe that if Rex coached the guy, he'd return to his old Titans form as the best DT in the league. But in reality i don't think i'm right...
