Yeah I know but beggars can't be choosers and the Jets are an injury to Shaun Ellis or Sione Pouha away from becoming irrelevant to the 2010 season.
Maybe because we just lost Jenkins and maybe because Albert is an all pro caliber dominent defensive player. He's had problems in the past, but that doesn't mean he can't be a dominating football player on the right team. I am not even sure I would want to do a deal for Albert, but its at least interesting proposal. Its more interesting to me than Howard Green is.
Gholston & a 4th for Haynesworth... let's do it Tanny I HATE Hayneworth but I think he can be a pretty dominant 3-4 DE. It baffles me Shanahan has taken this NT or nothing approach with him. At least try him out as a DE (in a 3-4 of course)... stout against the run + get penetration... what more would you want (except not being a douchebag)? He can be a Haloti Ngata imo...
I would hope Woody would want to secure anybody that can upgrade the team & help us get to the promised land instead of having just another ho hum unsuccessful season (No SB)
I agree with that, I wasn't sure about how the money would work. But doesn't his guaranteed salary go against the 09 cap because of the reallocation rule? That only applies to Jets that were on the roster going into the season?
Do you know what kinda chaos this would cause in the Redskins locker room? "Yo Golston!" Shouts Portis across the room. "Yeah?" Vernon Gholston responds. "Not you fag, yo Kedric!"
This. He could play DE and NT in our defense. He'd be a hell of a piece, and if anyone can get him to work hard and play hard, it's Rex. He has the ability to be more dominant than Jenkins, and he would improve our pass rush a lot because he'd need a double team wherever he lined up. That said, we have taken on a ton of bad character guys, and one more might be the tipping point. He's lazy, he stomped on Andre Gurode a while back, and he's got all kinds of red flags. I'm really not that worried about the laziness, I feel defensive players would get up for Rex. I just worry about chemistry in the locker room a little bit more. Jenkins had his problems in Carolina, but he matured into a really good guy. Doubt Haynesworth is that way. It would depend on compensation and character checks and how much confidence Rex and Tannenbaum have in the guys on the team. But you can bet Tanny will at least take a look, and if the value is right, there's a good chance he'll pounce. As many posters have stated, the salary isn't that big of a deal for us. Say, the deal is a 3rd and a 5th round pick for Haynesworth. Would you do it? That's what Jenkins cost.
I think a DL with 2 Gholston's actually qualifies to have the team start with some bonus points... or maybe a team has to cover 12 yds instead of 10 to get a first down .
3rd round pick is in all likelihood gone to SD from Cromartie unless Antonio just studs and makes that pick a 2nd rder. I think WSH will be the team to give up a 3rd round pick and the Jets will step in and give a 4th and 5th maybe to SD as well. 3 picks for SD(3rd, 4th, 5th) would make them let go of Jakson, WSH is let go of a problem and then get a useful WR in the right spot and the Jets take a chance on Fat Albert for middle pack picks.
Remember we don't have a 3 in 2011 (Cromartie). I'd do it for a 3rd and 6th... but knowing Tanny he'd probably put some sort of conditional pick into the deal...
Then have a patriot like draft and just keep trading back, aquiring more picks and getting solid depth for the team. Like Rex said, we have great starters, but out depth is shit.
so? we only had like 4 picks this year, big deal. it's not like we're in serious rebuilding mode, those picks will probably be all DL maybe 1 OL and possibly a Safety or something.
Maybe trade Gholston and a 5th for Haynesworth. This is the year since no acceleration will hit the non-existent cap. Gholston is gone and it's like he never happened. It's not like the Jets are likely to ever get anything out of him anyway.
