They said the exact same shit about Eli- You have no idea what's going through his head, to me he can be confident in any situation if his coaches show him that they do. His first playoff game he was exuding confidence. We were down 7-0 going into the 2nd quarter and Mark orchestrated 2 consecutive TD drives, the second was that 45 yard pass to Keller.
This isn't David Carr on the '03 Texans with their O-Line (or lack thereof). Sure we gotta give him some benefit of the doubt for being a 2nd year starter, but he has all the supporting cast a young QB can ask for. He doesn't have as much time to prove his worth as you might think.
If Sanchez was hurried in that game, Flacco was "HURRY THE FUCK UP!!!'d". Flacco and their gameplan still showed success.
This is a dumb statement. He's started now 16 regular season games and 3 playoff games. Just look back through history, not too many QB's are lighting it up in their second year, but I think Marl can be one of those given the right amount of pass attempts.
Yeah. We are talking about Sanchez here but Flacco threw the ball nearly 40 times and still had no TD's. What I'm saying as I stated on the previous page is, Mark is a passer, we need to treat him as such.
He actually started only 15 reg season games, but you're missing the point here. I'm not saying I expect him to light up the scoreboard in his second year, but he can't show a decline from year 1 and have fans who will cut him some slacks.
and I said what? I don't remember referring to Mark Sanchez as a hand-off quarterback. Flacco and Sanchez in their own minds had different approach to the game. One was confident, one was scared. Understand that.
Sanchez is getting ripped apart in the media this week. He better get his ass in gear or he's in for a long season.
Sanchez started 16 games in college. We all knew coming in that he was a bit of a project, and that project is still underway. Think of the war, not the battle.
Man has the tune changed on Mr. Sanchez. During the 2009 playoffs, the kid could do no wrong and played some fantastic football. Now he is being labeled as scared, immature, not a leader, etc. All this after 1 game played. As for his "body language," what the hell is he supposed to be doing on the sidelines? Jumping up and down with his toungue hanging out of his mouth? Many of the same comments were thrown Eli Manning's way when he was younger. As a matter of fact, both he and his brother still shake their heads in disgust after a bad play to this day. I'm not buying into that crap quite yet. Rex and Schotty did not want to throw him to the wolves during the Ravens game and the result was a conservative game plan. Nothing more in my opinion. We have seen Sanchez throw wildly all over the field last year as well as be composed and cool. Cut the kid some slack and let him figure things out.
The difference is Sanchez doesn't just look upset, he looks defeated and dejected. That's not how you want a QB to be. Be upset for a moment, then look determined to do better.
Sanchez is young, and is a perfectionist, thats why his body language is so obvious. He will be a great QB guaranteed, the second half of this year will show most improvement. As matter of fact I think he will have a big day against the Pats as long as Greene is running w/o fumbling.
Or the playoff games? I would think those carry weight in any discussion considering that's when he played his best ball
~25yd roll-out, play-action pass to Keller - no decision making required, just lob it up. Not disagreeing with most of what you said, but ya gotta keep things in context.
What does Sanchez have to work with? Cotch is a slot receiver and really only good against zones. Braylon has talent but never seems to get open. He has Keller, the only receiver present on the roster that other teams fear. When Holmes comes back, and is ont he field with Keller, that will make Cotch more effective; then I will see what Sanchez can do. If it is more of the same, then I will be forced to agree.
Way off base here, TB has been very objective, borderline pro-Jets as a commentator. He's been critical of NE. Fans of the Pats are quite annoyed with the guy because he doesn't have a Pats tatoo on his arm, doesn't knob slobber them the way every other NE area reporter does. The guy is correct. It's up to Sanchez to change his mind. Sanchez has to change my mind too, as well as a whole bunch of other Jets fans and observers. Sanchez showed me nothing Monday night. He rarely even looked downfield. He is playing scared right now. Isn't that pretty much what TB said?
