Put this in whatever thread you think it belongs---------I was listening to Jody MAC and Brandon Tierney today, and Brandon said something very interesting---I am going to paraphrase as I cannot remember the EXACT words but the gist of it was----Brandon spoke to someone on the team/ a player and last week the Jets had practiced all week, NOT to be conservative but to EXPLOIT the Raven secondary and take shots at them,,,,,he said "without naming names" that a player or players " in the huddle " as the plays came in were looking at each other and saying "what are we doing ? " Now maybe this explains why Sanhez looked handcuffed, maybe this explains the checkdowns, maybe it does not----but I don't think the guy made this stuff up
I don't understand really please explain further. You are saying that Tierney said a player that wishes not to be named(ill believe it for the sake of discussion) said they practiced all week to exploit the ravens secondary... BUT on Monday Night the plays that were called were just checkdowns/short passes? And the players in the huddle said "lol wat da fak is dat play??" ???????
They mustve talked about possible reasons for the last minute change in gameplans if this is true, so what did they come up with as reasons why?
I don't think they were unfamiliar with the playcall, just wondering why those calls were being made that weren't practiced throughout the week.
yeah I really do not seem how that is possible. practice throwing a deeper ball, but calling 5-10 yard passes/?
Well yeah the player isnt going to say "well we planned to look like crap and make the Raven secondary look good"
I think it's possible. I think they strayed from what they worked on all week long because of the type of game we were in. They thought the safe calls, run game, and short check downs without turning it over would be enough to win without taking any shots. They wanted to play a safe, field-position type game. They probably figured it would lead to another scoring drive or two than it did; and they probably figured we'd get into the end zone once if we were gifted good position. It's just that; the Ravens got in the end zone. We never did. So their game plan that was adjusted with the flow of the game did not work out. If we continue to do this "ground and pound" bull shit it isn't gonna work. I don't give a fat baby's dick if that's Jets football or not. What the hell is Jets football anyway? Not like we've won 3 super bowls this decade. We have weapons. Use them. Use the pass to set up the run. Why the hell did this regime draft a f'ing QB 5 overall to manage the game. It's stupid.
I am just repeating what went on the show today--he said it this afternoon, if someone else heard the show feel free to add--------my take was that Sanchez was not allowed to throw the ball down field because SCHOTTY was calling the plays and that he went away from what they had practiced during the week. He (Tierney ) pretty much said "that Rex took a bullet for someone this week" , by giving the answers that he gave after the game and up until now----he also said that "Rex was not sure why Shonn Greene had been benched " and that Rex said " I have not yet spoken to Shotty about why Shon Greene did not play much in the second half " I hope they can beat the Pats Sunday because my gut says that there is lots going on behind the scenes that we are not aware of
Are you surprised? I'm not...I've watched the game over twice already and there are times where you have to be like WTF? For instance, In the huddle...Keller is told to go off the field so he starts to leave the huddle, T-Rich grabs him as in No, stay, it's X package Keller comes back to the huddle then looks up and is told to go off as he begins to run off again they send him back. I would not be surprised if It that was one of the WTF moments.
I think what we're going to see this weekend vs NE is a lot of the same bullshit from MNF; however, it will be much more effective against a weak Pats Defense. The Jets run game will breakthrough unlike last weekend, and it should open up the passing game for a few downfield passes. I think Jets fans are pessimistic towards defeating the Pats this week, but I like our chances just as much as last year's week 2. The defense is better, and we have more tools on offense to get the job done. Plus, we're home. Jets 20 Pats 17
I think The Mad Scientist was in his lab a little too long and knew he had a Defensive Game Plan, especially w/ Jenkins, to destroy the Ravens offense. He's THAT good and THAT Confident. When he left the lab he barked "NO TURNOVERS.. GROUND AND POUND ALL NIGHT" Kid.. Eat the Ball All night and let the D take care of things..... I think the Bottom Line is this was all Rex. Oh... And he was right. He just didn't plan for 13 penalties and T/O's. I'll give him a pass...... But, the offense still needs to prove it CAN be opened up starting Sunday. Let's See it.
Makes sense. Probly why sanchez was looking at schitty clueless as to why he kept calling 5 yard routes.
Theoretically, once Sanchez develops, we will let him sling it around the yard. But he is still only a second year QB, this is the year we see baby steps forward over last year, but lots of the same mistakes will be made. usually year three is the giant leap forward year, look at flacco monday. The guy was composed and pretty damn impressive against a team he knew we would be blitzing and in his face all night long. He did not look like that in the playoffs last year, he was horrible against the Colts defense, which is much weaker than ours.
That is really odd, unless somebody calling plays chickened out at during the game and deviated from the game plan. Running one kind of offense in practice and another during the game would definitely lead to the confusion we saw on Monday
If Bradford is allowed to throw the ball 55 times in his first game, then Sanchez should be allowed to throw the ball 30+ times during his second year.
If you don't use your good players, they go to waste. They should have thrown at least 10 passes each to Braylon and Cotchery. I'd like to see us have an attacking offensive identity to go with our attacking defensive identity. I mean, ground and pound is great, but in football you have to be able to forward pass the ball too.
