zoned out of game mode? and you wanted him back in? he should be ready and zoned in at all times, that's my problem with him I agree he needs to be fed. but he's got to earn the touches. you don't do that as a back when you fumble because you run into an offensive linemans ass. and scared?, he certainly looked it on the play i mentioned.......but that's just my opinion, like he didn't want the ball. I know he'll redeem himself, and hopefully this weekend.....but he earned the bench time he received last night
Excellent post. It's nice to have a rival fan come on the board talking sense instead of nonsense. Welcome to the board!
Benching people can do different things to them. For some, it lights a fire under their ass. For others it can affect them and make them think they're not wanted. It looks like Greene might be the latter, coaches job to know which one your player is
To back myself up.. I'm not full out bashing the coaching staff. I love our coaches and have complete faith in every one of them. They just need to tweak and work on things still, and that's evident
agreed, gotta assume they know, although if the "Rex-Shotty" altercation in the other thread is true, seems there disagreement between these 2 on how to handle Greene.........not a good sign either.
LT needs to be the starter until his legs fall off. I am a huge SG fan, but that was a pathetic performance. Two hands on the ball and your OL's ass causes a fumble. Really? Bench his ass until LT can't run anymore. He played well down the stretch, so let's just try that again.
That's bullsh1t. He's the featured back, you gotta let him play through mistakes, what does that do for his confidence when you bench him for the entire game then bring him in for a swing pass in the 4th qtr... that was terrible coaching right there.
Feature backs can't fumble the ball, simple as that, especially in a game like last night. He deserved to ride the bench and he will continue to do so until he learns how to protect the ball.
Greene was inserted back into the game...he quickly asserted himself by dropping an easy check down pass which would have resulted in a first down. He just was not in the game last night.
Yeah, that is the most frustrating part of it. No one hit him and he coughed it up.....he was close to the 1st down as well. He also fumbled out of bounds earlier in the game where it looked like it just slipped out of his arms. I know it was a bit wet out there so maybe it's not so much technique as it is just some bad luck.
And franchise QB's can't throw for less than 70 yards. Shit happens. Like Sanchez, Greene is a second year player who (1) only carried (I think) 1 full year load in college and (2) really only got a lot of carries toward the end of last year. Normally, I'm a Madden coach. Fuck up once and I'm screaming CUT HIS ASS! But in reality, I don't know how the kid learns unless he's kept in real game time (obviously practice and offseason count, but I think you get what I'm saying). And not for nothing, I think people forget he had a fumbling issue during the regular season last year too, so I don't know that this should come as a great surprise to the CS. But again, what the hell do I know.
Wasn't one of the biggest knocks on Greene last year, and coming out of college, that he was not a good pass catcher? I am not using this as an excuse for the drop last night, but if Rex says it was the packages that kept himout of the game, why wasn't LT still in, or another play called. I thought LT was brought here to be the pass catching back, and a leaderr on the field.
His fumble probably cost us the football game. Huge F up. But we need him to improve. No reason to bench him.
That was at the very least a 10 point swing because let's assume we don't score a TD at least we get the 3 and now lead 9-0. They went down on that possession and scored that TD. If we actually score a TD it's 13-0 with about 2 minutes left in the half. That was a huge huge play and he deserved to be benched. It's not like it was ripped out. Guys fumble and throw INTs, it's the way the game works but between Jones and Martin this guy has more fumbles in his 1st 10 games as I think the Jets RBs have had the last decade.
QBs throw interceptions, but when have you ever seen one benched after throwing only 1 pick? SG turned it over once; OK, he shouldn't have. But get over it. Last night's penalties are what ****ed the Jets most. Cromartie negated Keller's nice snag, which would have given us a 1st and goal. That was probably the worst penalty of them all. (I lost count.) And Rex and Shotty should have gone for it one 4th and 1 in the first half. No question about it; I don't want to hear differently. I digress. Gang Green only hurt themselves by not giving #23 more touches. Shotty and Sanchez better get their heads around throwing down field... Hats off to Folk for some clutch kicks! Let's regroup vs. the Pats. We can do it. J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets!
We only had 44 plays on offense where LT was showing productivity, i think it is truth Tough to give people touches if we never had the ball
Not drafting a NT was costly Nobody knew that Jenkins would blow out his ACL again. But we knew he was injury prone, getting old, and just came back from a long rehab. I was hoping for his heir apparent at some point in the last years draft. That would have come after Wilson. Pouha and Devito are nice players but they don't really scare anybody. Terrence Cody went at 56 to the Ravens and we could have traded up and passed on Vlad. Now we have two questionable players at LG and are thin at NT. There just aren't that many DTs who can play NT in any draft.
