makes you worry about the sanity of Pool in about 10 years.... The guys brain might turn into a watermelon if he gets another concussion.

That said reportedly he has had only a single concussion, so hopefully thats really true for Pool's sake.

loved Scotts line. "Why do you think he has the Gazoo helmet? Because he knocks himself out all the time."

Love that article and love the adopt-a-jet. I really hope Pool can play out the season without any injuries. I can see him really breaking out at the Jets.

I like the backhanded shot at Rhodes. :breakdance:

head injuries are cause for concern, especially at that position, but possibly mising the game because of the ankle thing is definitely an immediate concern.

Eric Smith is serviceable, but this is a BIG game.

Maybe Rex has a time machine, and can go back 10 years and grab Victor Green! :jets:

    There are 2 shots, actually:

I don't think Eric Smith is servicable. I think Eric Smith is vital. He's probably the main hybrid in the defense, because he can cover short and hit like a linebacker, yet drop back in a contingency at safety. Ihedigbo as well, although in more of a short-field role.

Our safeties and corners are the key to the defense. Because they provide the majority of the coverage and also augment the pass rush. and either go free or free up the inside rush for Bart and Harris.

I have no problem with Eric Smith starting. Think Anquan Boldin will think twice on those deep routes?

Smith is a good blitzer, improved tackler, and he's been in the defense for years now. I think he's as good a backup as there is, and I'm completely comfortable with him starting.

No, but that has nothing to do with Eric Smith and everything to do with Anquan Boldin being an animal. Let's not forget, after Smith destroyed him, Boldin came back 3 weeks later and played with 9 metal plates in his fucking face.

Odds on Pool having Lou Gehrig's disease in 15 years?

"Why do you think he has the Gazoo helmet? Because he knocks himself out all the time."

That's terrifying for his sake, given everything we know now.

But it is what it is. I'm happy that the Jets finally have someone they believe fits well next to Leonhard. If he stays healthy and fits the way they think he can, holy smokes is this defense going to be good.

As per Pool & the Jets medical staff he has suffered only 1 concussion in his career & that occurred in his 1st game as a pro, he's had a history of migraine issues all his life so as long as he takes his meds to minimize the chance of getting a migraine I'm not worried. Hope his ankle feels better so he can play on Monday night.

I don't trust the Jets medical staff to be forthcoming on concussion details.

    Seriously.

I apply the same calculation to an NFL player's concussion number that I did to random girls' "been with" number back in my early 20s.

It's not good. He shouldn't probably be playing football.

Serious, how Hershman is still working for the team is beyond me. If I was owner this hack would be the first one summarily executed... I mean fired.

How anyone can deny concussions cause major problems for players is a fucking retard. This guy tried and succeeded in suppressing the concussion problem and the assorted malaise that follow with repeated head injuries in the NFL. A total hack..... I know we have fun on this board but this guy truly makes me angry.....
