all during this holdout, i've just been mostly focused on losing his tremendous individual talent, but now it's really sinking in what a lift this gives to the whole organization. especially with the timing of it. if this works out like we're dreaming, the ripple effect is enormous.

cromartie now fills a role that will make him a beast.
    wilson becomes a STUD nickel.
lowery instead of coleman at the dime. enough said about that.
leonhard can use his savvy to roam.
    pool can attack the run.
smith and digs can blitz with impunity.

the front 7 is unleashed! on paper this is damn fine, but more than that, it just changes their whole mentality. the swagger starts at the bag and pushes up through the heart of the D. just the mouths and attitudes of guys like scott and jenkins now become a much scarier thing for opposing offenses. what a nightmare!

now you look at the offense. how do you think schotty and sanchez feel right now? like a piano just fell off their backs, i imagine. especially for mark, who seems to be feeling the pressure a little bit. all of a sudden his job has gotten easier, and he can continue to grow.
and even shonne greene, who is being asked to shoulder a bigger load. if we can get some separation in terms of leads, he can rest more, last longer.

then there's the front office, which -- it appears -- has saved face at the 11th hour on the eve of this new stadium. they must be just thrilled. the psl's, the TV show, etc.

    hbo is creaming themselves.

now how 'bout leading in the league in fucking wins!!!

Because they were expected to lead the offense without making many errors, so they would have probably played tight & conservative, now Sanchez can relax knowing if he makes a mistake the defense will bail him out, I hope this obviously isn't the case but that just the way things are sometimes.

obviously the offense and sanchez have been struggling in the pre-season. or didn't you hear rex yelling at them before he told everyone to get a snack?

if i overstated it, i apologize. i'm every excited. maybe i'm just projecting.

Now all we have to do is score 2-3 points a game.

This means that the offense is no longer carrying pianos, I think.

Well i'm not sure thats fair to just label everyone carrying a piano on their backs as tight and conservative

I hope this means our defense is going to lead the league in scoring this year

It's going to be hard to have a great defense with all those pianos on their backs.

This will be one of the best defenses in the history of the NFL.

Where's our weak link? We dont have one.

From what I'm reading, the piano is the weak link..

I believe the piano will take kellen Clemens roster spot, due to the piano not being physically able to sack itself

Sanchez's job has gotten tougher, rather than easier. He now has to face Revis in practice. Of course, this will help him on the field when he faces lesser talented CBs than the ones he has been practicing against.

Can't was just play D all game long and punt on first down? Im sure our D will eventually score, even in OT. Jets win the game 0-2 in OT.

I'd say lack of a dominant pass rusher, OLB until Pace comes back, and Safety.

However, I don't really consider any of these real weaknesses, rather just the weakest part of the defense.

Clearly we have a weak link at end. DeVito is starting and that's not great.

    Assuming Pace is healthy:

    DE: Ellis, DeVito
    DT/NT: Jenkins, Piouha
LB: Scott, Harris, Pace, Thomas, Taylor
    CB: Revis, Cromartie, Wilson, Lowery
    S: Leonhard, Smith, Pool

*italics - weak *bolded - strong

This defense will be insane.. at least imho.

In this scheme, Eric Smith deserves a slight shading towards bold.

    In Mangini's system, he's italicized.
