..McKnight is a RB, Woodhead is a WR.

I completely agree with that sentiment. He's consistently made the most of every opportunity he's been given.. he's been reliable and doesn't seem to have any problems getting open. I hope he makes the final cut.

Outside of our 1's we saw nothing last night with the exception of Clemens to Santonio. Give McKnight a chance when he has some holes before making a snap judgement. The guy isn't someone who is gonna throw it down inside and break tackles. He needs to get in the open field and make people miss. He'll be our Reggie Bush but much cheaper and not as dynamic.

On a related note, crack is now the official drug of TGG.

It's that or flat-out racism. Lol

He can get open to the outside as we saw last preseason if he can get some open space he has the ability to break one. It's going to be tough to see him make the final cut as there are some good battles but unless he went to the Pats or Phags I'd root for him to succeed. The good thing is I don't think we carry 4 QB's and O'Connell showed nothing last night so that should open up a roster spot.

I think you can count on Woodhead making the team. Ryan likes him as much as he likes Brad Smith.

People are anti-Woodhead as a backlash to all of the unwarranted praise that he's received on this site. Simple as that.

He's the most hyped up 7th receiver in football history.

    Yeah..he's over hyped....

One of the most prolific college players...EVER... he posts pro day workout scores
that would have been top 2 combine scores in all categories (lets face it...he gets THAT invite, he goes from the 5th round to the 2nd or third), gets signed as UFA, gets hurt (blows out knee) spends his rookie year on IR....comes back..makes the P.S. and then the active roster

    Yeah, the praise is unwarranted.....

The fact that he got drafted behind some pretty good players at his natural position doesn't count for much either....

Bottom line, this is a real talented, very undersized kid from a nothing program that's secured a job among 1500 of the best athletes on the planet.

    Nothing to see here...move along.

You guys must have short memories. Woodhead was given an opportunity to contribute on special teams, and he missed 2 tackles against Ted Ginn Jr, which cost us a game.

If Woodhead offered anything running up the middle I would agree with you....however, he's just a little guy and despite how hard he may run, he can still get arm tackled by a Gholston every time.

McKnight looked slower and less agile, but if Woodhead is the full time 3DRB it will be a dead giveaway that he's catchign a 2-5 yard pass every time he is on the field

I think both of them make the roster.

This was discussed ad nauseam in the game thread. McKnight was facing 8 in the box for much of the night, which led to zero holes opening. Thats a big part of why we saw Clemens able to connect on so many quick, short to intermediate throws. He'll be fine.

And I like Woodhead. I like the idea of Woodhead. I also see him for exactly what he is. His getting cut or not cut has no bearing on this team, and the suggestions that he should make the team generally originate from emotion or some perception that players should make teams because of their story and work ethic rather than their ability to contribute. It's a great story, but ultimately there will be little impact from whatever decision the FO makes.

BTW, I'm not sure why anyone would expect the backups to be able to zone block like the starters. McKnight is a good zone runner. Wait until we see him with our primary linemen.
