You guys are all way off the mark. Ghost excels at one task - he's always the first one off the bus. One look at those arms and everyone on the other team is thinking, "damn, that guy is ripped and he doesn't even start - the Jets must be stacked at DL."
TC reports stating Gholston had 3 would-be sacks had me slightly encouraged. He was non existant in the Giants game but did push the pocket once. I'll give him til the end of preseason before I call the move to 34DE a failure as well.
No one is wronger than those who continue to insist that Gholston's biggest problem is his lack of courage or desire. You could light a cord of desire-infused firewood under his taint and it won't make a bit of difference. The man SUCKS at football. If you've ever played any type of football -- or basketball, or hockey, or fucking dodgeball -- and you watch this kid try to change direction or be in any way instinctive with his body, then you understand that he's not a real player. I cannot wait for this year to be over so I don't have to see any more threads/posts about him a) turning a corner, or b) lacking heart. VG's lack of heart, however real, has almost nothing to do with his failings as an NFL player. Kerry Rhodes sucks because he lacks heart and eats cum. VG sucks because he sucks! Yes, part of that sucking is mental, but that doesn't mean he can simply overcome it by having more desire. It's not about that. It's about sucking. Thankfully, for just a few more months.
agreed 1000%. If you watch him on the filed he has absolutely no instincts, moves as slow as shit and has no body control. He sticks out like a sore thumb
I just don't understand how he doesn't think this is a make or break season for him. He hasn't had a sack in three years.
I agree totally. Vernon Gholston reminds me of former Islander winger Oleg Kvasha. Kvasha was the centerpiece of the deal shipping Roberto Luongo (a future top 5 goalie for all you non-hockey fans) out of Long Island, and he was pretty much a total flop with the Isles. Fans absolutely killed the guy for lack of heart, not trying, floating, and pretty much every other way you can call a guy a pussy. The problem was, Kvasha competed as hard as anyone on the ice; he was just a shitty player. Fans usually want to take the team's side in any argument (see: Revis holdout) and it's easier to blame the player for being gutless than to admit that the people you trust to run the team picked a lemon. I think that's what's happening with Gholston--we want his problems to be caused by a lack of heart because that's fixable. Lack of talent isn't.
^^^ that's what we need!!!! a lemon law in the nfl!!! after 3 seasons without a sack, we get to send him back for a new OLB!!!
