I believe the Revis Camp realized they lost what was left of darelles public support and he is really starting to look like a greedy asshole. The Jets played their cards perfectly and potentially just set this franchise up for success for a very very long time. Once we lock revis up to a reasonable contract, we can then move on to mangold and harris and our core will be set for years to come.

Finally get to relax a bit and just wait for this to get done, I was really starting to get worried about this up till about 15 minutes ago.

2010 New York Jets Defense.....Greatest of all time.

Seems like they only agreed to keep negotiations private:

good thing the jets did hard knocks, because its probably helping these negotiations out.. especially with the premiere last night.

Well thank you. But ftr I am not on Revis's side on this. I just think some of the hatred expressed here toward him is over the top unreasonable.

Does that mean we should ignore all rumors?

    Probably good advice.

If they Jets offered $120 million they met him more than halfway.

No way Revis gets more than that.

I'm sure they are full of shit. If they disagree again i'm sure somebody will leak to try to make the other party look like an utter asshole.

    I don't think it's been unreasonable.

To me, it's simple. The Nnamdi deal should have no bearing here. And from the looks of things (and from what Tanny said on HK), the Jets are 100% willing to pay Revis top-dollar, excluding the Nnamdi deal. IMO, that puts the Jets in the right (for the most part), and I think many others agree.

Expecting the Jets to match anything near what Nnamdi got is exemplary of Revis' inability or unwillingness to recognize that other players need to be payed also. That, too, is turning many fans off seeing as how his potential $16m/yr contract would only serve to fill his pockets and ego, while shrinking the Jets' talent pool.

So, unreasonable? I don't think so.

yes...but what's the guaranteed portion of that figure?

That's the missing link in all this.

The Jets have said they're flexible but they aren't negotiating that part until they can agree on the total compensation.

Agreed. His demands and his agents are the source of all the unreasonableness.

I'm not sure the word hatred is the correct one. I would say hatred is reserved for the fins and their fans, like-wise with the Pat's. What I think it is with most folks here when it comes to their feelings toward the Revis camp is disappointment that he is willing to put himself ahead of the team in what could be the most anticipated Jets season in most of our lives. I definitely don't hate the guy, I just have not liked how he, or his advisors, have handled things since June...

I think Schwartz to Feingold are finally coming to terms with the fact that the NY Jets are not going to give into their ridiculous Aso demands. Revis' future in this league will be in jeopardy if he sits out and this turns messy, and is that really worth an additional $4 million a year? A bird in the hand is worth much much more than two in the bush in this case.

There really isn't anymore that can be said at this point.

We've exhausted ourselves. We can only hope he's in before the season. I think he will be.

I believe that after today's joint statement, a deal will be reached soon.
