I meant not allowed haha. Not 'now' allowed. FTR.

The meeting wasn't allowed to be filmed. But yes, the Revis story is going to be big until he gets in camp. We'll see Tanny on the phone and discussing it with the brass every now and then.

The Jets are at 75% of what team Revis is and has been demanding the whole time. That's pretty significant, no? Tanny is not even talking guarantee's until they agree on the total compensation.

There is no roster space issue if he refuses to report.

So, after hearing that Revis is indeed demanding $16 million a year long term and that the Jets have offered fair value in 1 year, 4 year, and a whopping 10 year $120 million deal, do you still feel Revis "deserves to be paid like the best" and this situation is not the fault of his agents? Even after watching Hard Knocks?

They would be crazy to offer him a one year deal. He would be one and done. Maybe a one year extension.

I guess you're not interested in having a consistent contender. $16 million a year for a CB is a cap breaker. That's why Tanny won't and shouldn't even consider it.

After watching hard knocks last night it's going to take a miracle to get him in camp. Revis needs to man up and realize he's got a contract and the jets working to give him something new is amazing on their part. He needs to meet them in the middle.

What cap? You don't know what it looks like. Considering the two biggest spenders in the league, Snyder and Jerry Jones, are two of the biggest opponents of actually having a cap, there's little chance that it returns unchanged. It could return as a soft cap. It could return with re-signing exemptions for a portion of salaries. It could turn into a luxury tax(least likely shit ever).

The cap could be less for all we know. The owners want to give the players less of the revenue. That's part of the problem.

You can't just give out a deal that would be unrealistic under the cap last year expecting the new deal to be able to accommodate it. It would be more reasonable to assume the same parameters as last year when doing the deal.

And neither does Tanny. Which is a major reason Revis getting $16m/year would be terrible GM'ing.

Manning and Reggie Wayne, arguably the two best players at their positions, have yet to get new deals, yet they are in camp. Come on Revis.

Now, the best way this ends, is Tanny tells him straight up...Sign our deal, or play for your million dollars, or retire...because we're done negotiating and we'll eat the pick we selected you with.

For some odd reason Adam Schefter on ESPN this morning said he has a feeling it gets worked out next week, but didnt really explain why.

That would be nice. I would love to know why he has that feeling though.

Who would actually agree to that? That even goes against the nature of the original draft which always rose based on the total profits for the league and the NFL is only going to make more money.

You have two owners in the one of the biggest profit-generating divisions that absolutely hate the cap and they are only going to be pushing for at least a more flexible cap. I'll be shocked if the cap returns in the same incarnation as the previous CBA.

As for Revis specifically, he deserves his money. I never said the Jets had to be the ones to pay him.

The Owners want to give the players less of the total revenue than they are giving them right now. I can't remember what the percentages were (now and what the owners want vs. what the players want) though.

That's two owners out of 32. Regardless, the point remains. How can you make a deal that would be unreasonable under the last set of parameters just expecting the new deal to make it more realistic? Unless Tanny had some information telling him the new cap was going to be much easier to work with it would be foolish of him to make a long term deal under the assumption that it will be.

If team Revis believes what you do, they should be happy to wait for the new CBA to get a huge deal. Trying to force a deal that wouldn't be acceptable under the last CBA is BS.
