thank you someone sees what im saying...i love Mangold dont get me wrong and i love Harris but Revis is a true shutdown corner.. theres maybe one of them in the league at a time.. center we had the best one in the league told him to take a hike and replaced him at the end of the first round with another great one..could we do that again?...easily. you give me the number one overall pick in the draft this year can you get Revis? the answer is no

If he sits out in 2010, his contract freezes, so he'll still have 3 years left on his contract.

He;s not. he gets his 20 million for the 2011 and 2012 seasons each. Just like his contract is currently set up. It's not hurting them since it is what the jets have agreed upon and planned around.

No. It's very clear. Without a new deal, he owes the Jets 1 yr @ 1 million dollars.

That's a big part of why this is so retarded....holding out gains him nothing. He's already killed the clause that guarantees the next two years at 5 and 15 million.

So he can play for 1 mil, and then find his ass franchised.

I would love to see Revis sit for three years if he decides to go that route. The only way I would trade him is to the NFC, not a contender (Tampa, Detroit, St. Louis) In return, I would love to land a top notch defensive lineman with one or two first rounders. As much as I want to see him sit and watch, seeing him play for a shitty team would be ok with me

this is how it breaks down. If he wants to average 16M guarentee a year. you need 48M over the next three years. so give him th 15M with 8M guarenteed this year and the rest of the deal is the same. if he wants more now? great give him 10, hell 12. then make a 5 year deal that says 15(12 guarenteed) 20(20), 20(20), 22 (16), 25(12).

Thats 80M guarenteed. only a slight raise in the last to years and a safety net if he gets hurt to save 19M of those last two years moneys. he gets his 16M a year guarenteed this way and it never really seems to hurt the team. the only changes come in this year(no cap so who cares) and those last two which i see as a reasonable upgrade.

    agree/disagree?

I think he's banking (no pun intended) on the Jets realizing they must have him to win it all. They already have offered him much more money, so it has gained him something. The problem lies in the amount. If he didn't hold out, he would have been offered less money than what is currently on the table, so I think it has gained him something.

But on paper, you are right. If the Jets try to go for it without him, he's fucked.

I still have hope...Revis may have to sit out a few regular season games...but I know he will be a part of this year's team.

"By holding out, Revis will incur a $16,523-a-day fine and waive future guarantees in his current contract. Based on a clause, the $20 million he's scheduled to earn in 2011 and 2012 goes from guaranteed to non-guaranteed salary." - Rich Cimini

    that was the deal.

oh i agree. i'm saying this is like the max that things would get to IF revis wanted his 16M a year guarenteed.

But if he doesn't play a down, the contract is frozen until he does.

The part you're not getting, is that if he sits out, the contract freezes.
So whenever he decides to play football it's for the 2010 one million dollars, with two non guaranteed years behind it.

Currently he has 40M guarenteed if he didnt hold out. so we are adding the same amount in 3 years time so it doesnt seem like too big of a stretch.

And when the team is fucked because they can't pay anyone else because they're paying a cornerback close to 15% of the salary cap, then what?
