Also Patriots fans are happy because they realize how terrible and overated Moss is, that a single cornerback can shut him down without any help from the safetys.

I heard from Manish via twitter that Revis' contract essentially "freezes" if he doesn't play. Therefore, he can't just sit out the next 3 seasons and become a Free Agent.

That puts the Jets at an even bigger advantage should he choose to hold out.

I agree that he's a great CB but this team can still win without him and they will. Let his ass sit out this season and when the Jets win the super bowl guess who doesn't get a ring.

Yeah he's fucked, his career as he knows it could be over. His biggest mistake was thinking the Jets would never go on without him.

WOW really?? If that's the case, then give a lot of credit to Mike T for having the foresight to protect the team in this scenario. If this relationship gets to the point of severe contention then the team can hold him ransom

That's what I thought, so unless the guy retires it's play for the Jets and make what he agreed to because you have no leg to stand on. He's at such a disadvantage it's not even funny.

I don't know how much stock you can put into the preseason but should the Jets come out and make Eli look like a rookie come Saturday that is going to hurt him even more. I honestly think he wants the team to struggle without him but I have doubts that they will struggle. Will we miss him? Sure but I don't think it's the end of the world if he's not there. The FO has done a good job at stockpiling talent in the secondary.

He has a contract. He Jets own his rights. Sean Gilbert was at the last year of his contract and had to take his case to the NFLPA.

Yeah, I think the Giants game is going to be more important than people think. We have to pray that our secondary and defense look great. Their performance obviously won't hold as much water as the Ravens game, but it can be a taste for things to come. I'm sure the Revis camp is going to be watching very closely.

Francessa is making good points today.

Pass rushers are paid outrageous money, and we dont have an amazing pass rusher. Our de's cant get to the QB for their lives...used more to take up space/stop the run.

Now with Revis the pass rushers all get more time to do their job.

    pay the fucker

He was Revis Christ when he was helping us win football games. He's Mevi$ when he's losing his shot at a ring and legendary status by holding out over a contract HE signed and frontloaded. A contract HE knew would be paying him this much when he got good.

Revis already gave us the reality check.

Really? It's still just a preseason game. Millions of guaranteed dollars rest on the hands of a few series of Kyle Wilson at #2 CB? I don't think so.

Just saw that on sportscenter. Herm also said he'd play for $1, as long as it gave him a chance to play. To think that Revis could actually learn something from him...

Don't think the 1st team is going to treat it as a preseason game. The Giants have been stewing all offseason about the Jets owning the city and will want to embarrass the Jets. From the owner taking shots at the team to guys like Tuck doing so last week. They hate the fact that it's the Jets city now. At the end of the day it means nothing but don't think they won't want to "exploit a weakness" in the Jets.

Yea, Herm had 16 over 9 years. Revis has 14 over 3 years. Either way, good job Herm.

Admittedly, I'm no expert, but I thought that in a 3-4 defense (especially Rex Ryan's), it wasn't expected for the DEs to get as many sacks as in a 4-3. I could be wrong.
