I appreciate the fact that you apologized, but....

If you believe that that the term you used and cunt are equal in social significance you really don't get it....But this is not a conversation for a football forum so I will end it here......

make him play for his original contract he held out for back three years ago. one player putting himself above the team should never happen. if he wants to sit out, so be it. i have faith that ryan can put forth a very respectable defense without him. put him in a lose, lose situation and leave it at that. 3 years remaining on his contract is a lot and thats how teams stay under the cap. players playing for the first contract that benefits the team that invested and took the time to train/teach them the nfl level of play.

then the second contract is at his disgression. aso played under his original contract before he got to his second, as should revis. to demand better then aso money when you've only been in the league 3 years and played as the best cb for only one year does not and should not make him the highest paid or best cb in the league.

aso, baily and woodson have paid their due's and been doing it for years, so should revis. otherwise, mangold and harris should leave the field and pull a revis if revis gets away with this holdout.

That is essentially a 3 years extension for $59 millions. Thats how Tanny will look at it. I think either the Jets offer such a contract with little guaranteed money or like a 6 years $70 mil (essentially a 3 years extension for almost $50 mil) but with tons of guaranteed money. I can't imagine Jets offering him much more than 80 mil over 6 years. The rumored 9 years $100 mil will be sweeeet.

One thing we have to figure in is, even though Revis wants $15+ mils a yr contract, that will seem like peanuts for such a talent by the time year 6 comes around. If Manning wants $20+ mil a yr being 34 years old, $15-16 mils a year for the best CB not even in his prime yet is not insane.

Manning signed a 7 years $98 mil contract with $34.5 mils guaranteed. 6 years later, he is rumored to be asking almost 50% more per year than his $14 mils in 2004. Best CBs in the league average around 75-80% value of the elite QBs.

You didn't have any mention of Extension, something the Jets want to offer on top of his currently remaining 3 years.

Wouldn't that be one of the 6 year deals?

    I did. And it's a bargain.

You could probably get him for 5 mil less.
25 mil SB..makes it 46 over 3....Once you pro-rate the SB he makes about 12 mil a year.

It seems that most people feel $10-$12 million a year is a fair deal whether 3 or 6 year deal, especially for a guy with three years still remaining on a contract.

Yeah, but the rumors are, Jets are trying to get a 6 yr extension, exactly like Hobbes mentioned it above. 9 yrs $100 mil...can't beat that. Revis gets 6 years added on for $80 mil. I wouldn't mind 8 years 100 mil either giving Revis a 5 years $80 mil extension. Gives him his $16mil demand, and keeps Revis here throughout his prime for about $12.5mil a yr average.

    6 years @ $80mil.

Totally agree with this. Sprinkle in achievable incentives and DR could be close to 20mil annually.

I understand now, you want a truly long term option.

I hadn't thought that possible when I made the poll. Sorry about that.

I went with long term at around 70 mil, for six years.

I expect Revis will play that long and be an above average player even at the end of his career.
