Why does it matter, if he gets hurt than we are back to where we were. I see this as a plus in every way possible.
When I first became a fan of the Jets at the very end of the 2001 season, this guy was on the team. The only person left from that team has been Ellis, but now it's Ellis and Coles. YAY! haha a part of my original jets team is back..
I'm not sure why anyone would be against this? It's insurance for the first four games and if he performs well maybe more. It's a no-lose situation.
I wish Coles would just go away. I want to see Brad Smith and Dustin Keller more involved in the offense. Whatever, welcome back you whiney little puke.
Wooooo! I was hoping we'd take him back earlier but it didn't seem very likely after we got Holmes. I guess I shouldn't be surprised people still hate the guy, but the way I see it, him filling in to start the season can't do any harm and it sounds like he wants to end his career a Jet, which I think is pretty cool, so welcome back, Laveranues
I know.... I'm torn. I always liked the guy, and just when I did decide he was a fave he'd piss me off. Oh well. Hey, if we win a ring this year I'd rather see Coles with one rather than Jason Taylor, so this move bothers me less than the Taylor signing even though for practical purposes Taylor made more sense. Fuck it. Welcome back LC.
LongSection, I agree with your summation of 'Fuck it. Welcome back.' This is the NFL and shit happens. Now...if there's still time we can bring back John Hall.
One can't really compare the bringing-back-of-Coles for the 157703th time to signing our biggest rivals' greatest passrusher and long time nemesis. With Coles it's more like been there, done that. Like I said before, I want to see more of Brad Smith in the regular offense and bringing in a washed up/humbled Lav Coles will only fuck that up.
I'm all for this. Coles is a team guy regardless of what you know-it-alls say. Coles was voted team MVP by his teamates in 2006 for a reason. He's tough, and he's the type of player Rex Ryan wants. Sign him as our number 4 WR, and number 5 receiving threat.
I'll never forgive him for that huge drop he had against the Seahawks in that snow game at the end of the Favre season. Blew the playoffs for them.
^That's the reason why? There were about 90 things that should have been done better in the Seattle game and you harp on one dropped pass from Coles?
Coles was one of the toughest, hardest working players the Jets had. If he was white and kept his mouth shut, he would have been the next Chrebet.... yup, I said it.
